The Iranian embassy siege 1980 is pretty interesting

>>
>competant
Terrorists that stand against local armed forces on first world countries tend to die quickly
>>
>>312848

Even though they dont really have a military anymore, i heard Germanys GSG9 is like the best counter terrorism squad on earf
>>
SAS.

Even america calls up the british when they want to actually rescue hostages and not simply kill everyone like usual.
>>
>>313903
this desu senpai. it sounds like a meme, but it's still impressive that they've only discharged their weapons on five occasions.

JTF-2 and GROM.
>>
>>314019
Thats more cute than anything.
>>
>>314023
This list kinda makes me sad. With isis dead, will the world be at peace for a record time, maybe ten years?
>>
>>314078
With ISIS dead the world will finally be free to go on a full-scale WW3.
>>
>>314023
This triggers me. Stuff like the rangers arent anti terrorist, they are airborne infantry. Delta force is just heavy infantry. Cia sog, green berrets, seal team six and are covert operations. The only true counter terrorist force there is fbi hrt
>>
SAS
Being someone who from a country that mentioning would just bring shitposting and has trained with the SAS , those guys are absolutely the best when it comes to counter-terrorism.The only thing is they don't see nearly as much action as their U.S counterparts.

I remember reading about U.S forces being pinned down by about 300 talibs and 50 SAS walked them out of the conflict

It's from way back though.memories might be a bit fuzzy
>>
>>314205
You have literally no idea what you are talking about.
>>
>>314023
>JTF-2
literally, who?
>>
>>314565
Not him but please clarify.
>>
British SAS are the best in the world. Followed by the Aussie SAS and Kiwi SAS. US Delta guys look up to SAS guys. I understand the hierarchy because my dad is retired FBI SWAT.

>>313566
This siege is always cited as an example of hostage rescue professionalism.

I doubt it. The only one really itching for a fight is Russia, and everyone will sanction them instead.

DELTA is not just heavy infantry lad. Pic related is Paul Howe. Former Delta Operator that was in Mogadishu for what became known as "Black Hawk Down." He currently teaches courses on CQB and hostage rescue to SWAT teams all over the country. Once again, not just heavy infantry.

>>314565
He's wrong about Delta, what else is he wrong about?
>>
>>314023
fuck off american shill. SAS runs circles around you
>>

Heavy infantry is just a cooler word for mechanized infantry, like people that use jeeps and shit.

So he quit felta and joined the hrt, doesnt mean they are the same

>all these people sucking SAS balls
clearly not a god damn clue on what the fuck SF do. the SAS have been shit on a countless number of times, see operation bravo. Seals and D-Boys are where the good shit is at. this comes from a /k/ommando.

>>314956
"heavy infantry" is a term to designate better equiped infantry. infantry squads of up to 8 personel with one man specializing for each role, AA, AT, grenadier, marksman, explosive specialist, paramedic, autorifleman, team leader. its contrary to light infantry in which the entire squad is compromises of riflemen and a few autoriflemen with someone equipped with a bunker buster like a SMAW or RPG22
>>
>>315046
Would you say that rangers and delta are more infantry than counter terrorist forces in their anatomy?
>>
>>314956
>mechanized infantry, like people that use jeeps and shit

There's a difference between mechanized and motorized.

Mechanized infantry rolls up in Strykers or Bradleys.
>>
>>315060
>rangers
Yes. Rangers primary missions are
1) doing things that are to difficult to the average army unit (basically everything
2) assisting Tier 1 teams like ST6 by securing surroundings, secondary threats, etc. see the rangers pannel in >>314023.

>Delta force

they do both. in iraq they would operate in the frontline much like the SAS and the SBS as well, as in "operate" read "fight in the front line in an extremely against the odds firefight but you win because you're a badass". but they also play opsec. (as in opsec read perform cover actions like killing HVTs, rescuing hostages). their modus operandi is similar to the spetsnaz except they don't kill civies for fun. they're the kind of unit that breach into a building in a jeep, get out and kill everybody with their sop mod m4s.
>>
>>315094
Excuse me, would you please go back to playing COD and let the adults talk?
>>
>>315094
SAS
GIGN
GSG9
SWAT
all god tier domestic anti-terrorist squads, there are a shitton more but these 4 are my favorite, no not because of fucking counter strike

Underage fag detected. Talk about what you dumbass leftist piece of shit?
Since you're from /his/ you're a commie and since you're a commie you're european and since you're european you you probaly don't even have a god damn gun, maybe you have not even shot one in your life.

I read few posts from this thread but from what I have seen there's just too much shit over here. This thread was made by the kind of person who thinks 7.62 is better than 5.56

>>
>>315122
Well, you seem to think the US military still uses jeeps, that "opsec" is a kind of mission, that "spetsnaz" is a single unit and not a generic term, that "tier 1" actually means anything, and that 11B and 0311 are incapable of executing raids or direct action.

Being that I've been on /k/ for way, way too long, I can't help but notice this shit.

confirmed dumbass
keep proving my point right

If this is bait, it's pretty weak, honestly.

If not, nobody needs a 14 year old to regurgitate the latest Gears of Honor: Black Ops generic military shooter cliches.

Either way, there's a board that you'd get along a lot better with.

what is wrong with this board shit lmao
>>
>>315236
T-those where all my posts senpai.

Heavy infantry exists historically and could easilly be used now, why do modern militaries hate cool terms?
>>
>>315244
Well, basically every infantryman carries the maximum possible amount on their back.

The real difference is how they're transported. Mechanized infantry/armored cavalry uses Armored Personnel Carriers and Infantry Fighting Vehicles to get them to the battlefield, and to help them engage the enemy.

Air Cavalry uses helicopters, Airborne uses parachutes, Marines used to use ships, but now they're just as likely to drive around in MRAPs.
>>

He didn't quit Delta to join HRT. He's an independent contractor now who teaches tactics to government SWAT teams.

Algerian DRS and GIS were very effective at fighting that country's war on terrorism during the 1990s.

What on fucking earth gave you that idea? Delta isn't really counter-terror, but they sure as shit aren't glorified grunts. Delta are the spec-ops guys who make SEALs shit their panties. Delta is the right hand of the CIA, constantly used in covert ops for the Agency around the globe.
>>
>>315111
>SWAT
Do you mean the HRT? 'cause there are a whole shitload of SWAT teams.
>>
Mossad.
>>
>>313984
Kek. The HRT is easily the one best hostage rescue team on the damn planet. We have no need of the fucking Special Air Service. Here, educate yourself:
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hostage_Rescue_Team
>>
>>314205

>rangers

Have had the busiest ops tempo for at least 5 years, they very often do work independently of other SOF with a large part of their work being DA and HVT kill/capture.

>Delta

Literally one of the most clandestine and elite SOF ever, to the point that CIA SAD recruits operators from this team.

>Seal team six

You mean DEVGRU senpai

>counter terrorism

Refers to any activities, domestic or otherwise, which relate to combating terrorism. Whether that be through using military force, or domestic/foreign intelligence.
>>

Russian Spetznaz for maximum "ASSAULT MODE" tier. Their sieges always end in bloodbaths.

Then SAS for literally being the best and GIGN for personal favourites.

Honourable mentions include GSG9, AussieSAS and SBS.

Everyone has mistakes. Until very recently the SAS where by far the most experienced unit in the world so would have more opportunitis to make them.

A lot of Americans don't seem to understand what the SAS is. An easy way to explain it is that DELTA is a direct copy. Started by a us officer on exchange who saw that the US didn't have anything comparable. From the structure, the secrecy, the types of personalities, missions etc the units remain very similar
