I also Khan a lot. And, while it can sound not original, I also like "King" a lot. But not the germanic version with king, konig, etc. but the latin version with Rex and his derivated like Roy, Re or Rey. It's a single syllable but a very strong one, and I like that.

I like "Regent" for some reason. And Imperator is awesome, so is "Exarch", "Praetor", and "Quaestor". The Byzantines had pretty cool titles, like Autokrator, Vestarches, Protospatharios, Ostiarios, Spatharokandidatos and Protovestarios. The wackiest one is Hyperprōtopansebastohypertatos.
In the military, there was Protostrator, Stratopedarches, Hoplitarches, Protokentarchos, and Taxiarches.

I've traced it back to a guy born in 1799 in I think Vermont or new York, definitely new England. It would be really cool if he was the son of some young Hessian captain that fought against us in the revolution, but then settled down and had a family, but I couldn't tell you.
I've learned a good amount about the time period and he could have come over at any time.
I really wanted to trace him back to Germany though (I'm 420% Aryan nordig brussian andsesdry :D), or maybe he was Austrian, I don't know. I assume at some point the family were actual Ritters, nobility was still very influential at that time, maybe they did some serious knight in shining armor ass kicking, maybe they were just chill nobles, either way I think it's an awesome name.
Probably gonna get a tattoo of some gay sword or helmet or something. I've considered rîter (old high German) on my arm or something.

They keep the best records, I've gotten really far with my mom's maiden name, some tiny little village in Bavaria, all the work was done for me though, maybe I'll visit some day and find some more records I can use there though.
I've "traced my family back" to some English nobles to, but I didn't actually do any work (it's already mapped out on ancestry.com with dubious citations) but I don't know how well I can trust it.
I've found some pretty well documented stuff and I'm the 10 great grandson (something like that) of some people who served in the Vermont militia in the revolution, I'm going to join this "sons of the American revolution" club that's been around for a couple hundred years.
