If Newton didn't discover and write it down somebody else would have. Ditto Darwin, Adam Smith, and anything else that's factually true.

You have to get into someone purely imaginary like the bible or koran for "A BOOK" that's had signifigant impact, since if the book didn't exist the ideas wouldn't exist either.

I already posted a book far more important than the contributions of Machiavelli.

Leibniz already wrote that shit down without Newton.

The bolsheviks were proper scholars, all of them. Say what you want about what they did, but they read their Capital.

Some 20th century books

John von Neumann and Oskar Morgenstern, Theory of Games and Economic Behavior

so what do you do when you arent being a elitist asshole?

I wonder was category Marxism / communism falls into. If Das Kapital wasn't written would 'socialism' or the same thing under another name still have caught on in the 20th century.

At least 54% of people in the entire world are currently being influenced by this and the philosophies and religions it spawned.

The book didn't spawn shit.

Christianity spawned everything but a tiny, tiny subsection of the Abrahamic religion group, and Christianity is based around ignoring the OT as much as possible anyway.

>Christianity claims all authority from fulfilling the old testament
>not impacted by the torah
>Islam practically has alternate versions to the laws from the torah
>not influenced by the torah

Christianity's entire legitimacy comes from fulfilling the OT.

Dawkins? Really?

There are a lot more illustrious atheists with actually original ideas.

Dawkins is a (literally) meme scientist/philosopher with a YouTube comment level dialectic.
>>
>>273421
Jesus spoke of the OT as an authoritative source on morals
>>
>>273455
Dawkins popularized the idea of gene-centered evolution

Dawkins is an Oxford professor. Fuck off.

The Gospels also have "Pharisees" getting on the case of Jesus for healing on the Sabbath, which they permitted and the Sadducees forbade.

It's almost like maybe the Gospels aren't the best source on what is or isn't prevailing doctrine in Judea, being mostly written by outsiders decades after the fact.

Without question.

This book founded modern philosophy. Its publication marks the beginning of the Age of Enlightenment and of the Scientific Revolution, the most remarkable event since the beginning of civilisation.
>>
>>273455
Say what you will about "The God Delusion" or Dawkins' presence on the internet but Selfish Gene was genuinely extremely influential in Biology.
>>
I've heard that a lot of the shady characters in the American government like Kissinger and a lot of the people involved in the Iraq/Afghanistan Wars like Paul Wolfowitz and Rumsfeld are influenced a lot by Plato's Republic and sort of see themselves as Plato's philosopher kings, leading the people towards a stable, technocratic, totalitarian New World Order.

As if religious dogma hasn't existed in different forms, ideas and expression all throughout human history. If it weren't because some "prophets" wrote it down and manage to recruit faithful pawns to continue the long line of religious myth, somebody else would've written a similar text, under similar pretense under a similar "god". In other words, no, none of what you said is in any an actual argument.
>>
>>276337
Sure, someone will always invent *a* religion, but they definitely won't end up re-creating any particular religion (unlike, say, natural laws, which simply are what they are).
>>
>>276337
...e.g. if "the Origin of Species" didn't exist, we'd still know about evolution in exactly the same way as we do now (we just might have called it something different / used some different terminology).

Certainly not the case with a religion.
