ITT: Post a picture of your local Cathedral. Yes, denomination matters.

Luckily, living near Jerusalem, I have the Holy Sepulcher as mine. It's got 6 different denominations - Roman Catholic, Greek Orthodox, Armenian Orthodox, Coptic, Ethiopian Orthodox, and Syriacs. They've brought all their unique art, chanting and architecture to their various parts of the Church.

Not as old - the old 1600's one was buttdestroyed by the Japs in WWII- but at least the altarpiece and the Peruvian Silver Virgin Mary survived.

At least it's still being used unlike European Cathedrals.

The closest cathedral to me is the cathedral of diocese of the French Armed Forces, Saint-Louis-des-Invalide, dedicated to the sufferings and honors of war.

It's only church with French flags permanently in it, and there are also captured foreign flags. Pic related.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Diocese_of_the_French_Armed_Forces

Since I'm not a soldier, the cathedral of my diocese would be Notre-Dame de Paris, but of course everybody knows that one.

I don't know about other cathedrals, but Notre Dame de Paris is still used everyday, four times a day for mass during the week, and Sunday is basically one long continous mass.

Why the fuck do they not build gothic style buildings anymore.

Literally the GOAT architecture style.
>>
>>277235

There was a gothic revival in the 19th century. I'm sure another revival will be along in due course. Right now we're in the throes of a pseudo-georgian revival in the suburbs in the UK. Google "new build persimmon" and take in the blight that taking hold over brownfield sites all around the country.

This one is located at Lima's central district, at the central square ("plaza de armas" is the spanish name of the square). It had to be rebuilt a number of times since its inaguration in 1538, so it isnt the same cathedral as it was initially.
