This has been my desktop background for about 2 years now and I think it's time for a change. Please post some historical artwork or photos that would look nice as a desktop background. Thank you.

Does this count as historical artwork?
These are nice but a touch depressing.

This is more like one of those thread reaction images people post on /a/. I wonder if /his/ will adopt them. Would discussion of the source images belong on /i/ though?

>Time for a change
You do realize that Windows has supported slideshow backgrounds since Windows Vista right? And that you can even make your background a video, right?

This is perfect, thank you.
I always found this painting very moving. The tight embrace of the brothers is what ties it all together for me, in the face of sacrifice for the good of Rome the combination of the salute and that steely grip on his brother's torso just seems so fantastic. No homo.
It's a pity stormfags ruined the salute though.

Still my favorite.
This.
Or this.
or maybe this.
This one by Couture is nice. You're supposed to look at it and say, "Wow, how degenerate," but it appears they're having a jolly old time and I like it tbqh

i always thought the sword guy face is badly done. the expression isn't fitting for the painting it looks like he looking above them randomly. they also look like theyre floating and not actually placed on the ground properly. the way he holds the swords isn't convincing and the helmets look too fantastical, the second ones especially annoying me

What are those stakes for? Are they for enemy sails? If so why would enemies be going so close to shore with sail ships anyway?
This one has been my desktop for a while

What's the name of this one exactly? I've seen it around a fair few times and it is fucking amazing. That water gets me going every time. I don't know how that dude pulled it off.
