What was his endgame?
>>
Security for his state.
>>
Stalin believed that if Communism were to spread worldwide, he had to ensure that Russia was to be strong enough to sponsor communist revolutions across the world, seeing as every revolution in the 1920's failed except Russia and Mongolia.

He instituted a policy called "Socialism in One State" to hyperfocus on improving the Soviet Union to become one of the world's greatest military and economic powers, and once that was accomplished, use it to be in a position to orchestrate successful revolutions across the world.

You could say it worked. His rapid industrialization and massive overhaul of the Red Army to be able to take on and defeat Nazi Germany in time, as well as be able to establish the Warsaw Pact and sponsor the Communists effectively in the Chinese Civil war during their takeover.

his endgame was satisfying his pathological need to dominate absolutely and relieve his constant paranoia by making sure every single even remotely potential opposition is literaly killed, so he can sleep at night without constantly imagining someone bursting in with a machinegun and a stick of dinamite

dude was raised by a tirant mother, educated in a monastery, ran away and finished growing up as a practicaly homeles migrant worker, then he turned a communist and started robbing banks, dealing with the worst kind of people you can imagine in tzarist fucking russia, spent time in tzarist gulags or hiding out in caves and forests, almost lost the use of one arm, prolly killed more people and been in mortal dangers more times than hitler fired bullets in the whole WW1

dude was hardcore, but life made him insane, practicaly a paranoid sociopath with somekind of cezar sindrome, holding on to power and killing people by decree was like a nervous tick he couldnt control, it was opsessive

stalin was directly and actively opposed to revolutions outside the soviet union, except as a way to install puppet goverments ran by moskva
>>
>>434102

actualy he was directly and actively opposed to anything he couldnt completely control or kill at will
>>
Communism, and it failed of course.
>>
He created buffer states so a war would never have to be fought on Russian soil again.

I really dont blame Stalin for what he did to Eastern Europe.

After losing so much to defeat Germany it was the only logical thing to do for his Country.

that's what I mean by saying he wanted the Soviet Union to be the one to orchestrate the revolutions. He supported the spread of Communism so as long as the resulting governments pledged loyalty and took orders from Moscow, Institutions like the Comintern were established to make sure that communist movements worldwide only subscribed to the Soviet Union's direction to avoid political fracturing and conflict of ideas, such as what happened to create the Sino-Soviet split.
>>
I think he did care about communism and personal things otherwise he would not have committed to the revolution long before it was apparent it had the remotest chance of success. How could he predict all that would happen?

Stalin didn't seem to be a complete psychopath like Beria, his humanity was just gradually chipped away. By the purges certainly he did not believe a communist utopia was possible.

maybe it was just a good excuse to kill, crush and destroy ?
>>
Stalin thought it was inevitable that Britain and the United States would go to war shortly, and that they would destroy each other and leave the rest of the world defenseless and ready for Sovietization. This is why he helped Hitler out so much before Barbarossa, because he believed the German imperialists and the British imperialists would ruin each other and then he could just walk in and take it all over.

The Soviets caused almost all German casualties in the war and broke the back of their war machine, fighting them back from Stalingrad to Berlin. While the Western Allies definitely did their part the Russians were the leading force to the defeat of Fascism in Europe
