1968 - Polish WWII vet Ryszard Siwiec self-immolated himself during a televised harvest festival in Warsaw attended by the ruling commie party's leaders & diplomats. He wanted to protest the intervention in Czechoslovakia by the Warsaw Pact. He's pretty much forgotten by history.
