The Great man theory.
It's mostly misunderstood. It doesn't mean a man did everything in a vacuum and is totally responsible, it just means that a man pushed things forward through is great influence, but he was still a product of his time and probably got to his position through a lot of luck. Take Napoleon, he was a great man, he individually changed Europe and the world in so many ways, because he had singular power, yet none of it would have been possible without his armies and his position would have never been gained if not for the French officer class all being executed allowing young men in their 20s to rapidly go up the ranks at unprecedented speeds.
