How the South was able to introduce the Jim Crom? Why did the federal government do nothing?
>>1422039
Jim Crow didn't even exist in the form of actual laws, it was a social construct.
>>1422039
Because blacks weren't seen as people.

North had defacto segregation.
South had de jure segregation.
>>1422051
segregation was always legalized, private businesses could always chooses whether or not to serve blacks. Their were segregated establishments all over the country, just not to the degree of southern states because of their massive black population.
>>1422039
because the federal government didn't give a shit, the federal military was still segregated post WWII.
After the Civil War, the North simply didn't have the energy to win the peace.

14th amendment didn't exist
Still doesn't desu
>>1422091
what does that even mean?
>>1422101
They passed a bunch of amendments protecting civil rights, and trying to turn the Southern United States into genuine democracies, and then ended Reconstruction and let the nascent democratic institutions in the South fail.
The 1880s and 1890s then saw paramilitary groups like the Klan destroy a large portion of what the Civil War was fought for.

>deny seats in congress to southern states during reconstruction

>trying to turn the Southern United States into genuine democracies
the north didn't even allow blacks to vote until the 14th amendment which was nothing more but a power grab on part of republicans.

The war was fought to bring the south back into the union and after Gettysburg, to end slavery. Both were accomplished. Stop projecting your moralfaggotry on the union cause.
