Communists, democrats, fascists and islamists all got their fair chance to rule the society to try their best at what they see as solution to the all problems. Why doesn't Libertarians never got to the power?! Is there a deep historical reason for that?
Libertarian utopia sounds like a shitty place to live to vast majority of people
>>1405636
Because the principle behind libertatian government is to concede power. The majority of people who enter politics are seeking power.

this. it's a paradox that can't be rectified with human nature. it's like establishing a lottery system to benefit poor people. it might payout $10 billion a year but 99% of those poor people are getting scammed and getting poorer and poorer playing while
Capitalism inherently brings power to a portion of the population.
Democracy is about the population as a whole having a say.
Libertarians are about democracy AND capitalism.
Its literally a system that has to rely on both capitalism and democracy not winning out over the other.

In other words, today's politics in America are the direct result of the libertarian system put into place 200 years ago by the founders.

the only logical endgame is fascism or something similar
in pure capitalism the national parks would already have been logged, mined, and drilled. public safety and future prospects would be compromised for profit. in pure democracy there is no bill of rights or protection for opposiing viewpoints.
in a very short while the economic power and political will of a faction will concentrate and consolidate and float to the top, where a handful of the richest barons control everything at their pleasure. what shit!
They have

Satan is correct. Libertarians are like the good guys that never get the girl, meanwhile the jerks take turns with her.
Actually you'll find that true Libritarianism has been achieved in Somalia.

failed state != a functional libertarian government.
>>1405636
What would a Libertarian state look like practically?
>>1406162
>>1406162
19th century America sort of. Except we never would've jacked the west from Indians and Mexico and the south would have been allowed to secede.

In effect it is. Libertarianism in practice is the absence of state power. The problem is that in any libertarian society, some group will acquire power and become "the state", even if they're not formally classified as such. Nature abhors a vacuum and all that. The closest we can have to a sustainable libertarian society is a state which engages in minimal intervention. However, even such a state isn't really sustainable - whoever holds political power (whether the populace or an elite) will try to get the government to favor their interests.
>we don't believe in government
>why oh why won't anyone put us in government
>>1405636
Because nobody likes you and you suck
>>1406132
What!? A functioning government? More like functioning to strip us of our freedom! Fuck off fascist!
