Napoleon's leadership made it possible to conquer a lot of land for the French, he was an unique individual, not the kind of guy you can just replace. Napoleonic era simply wouldn't have happened without him.
Hitler because he inspired a nation and a people. He was a nice idealist, a different kind of leader. I also think he's a bit cute.
Honorable mention to George Washington, but he wasn't that much important as a leader. 1776 would have happened even if he didn't exist. A leader can only be considered a leader if what happened wouldn't have happened without his presence.
