Since we had a Goering-Tito conspiracy theory thread, what does /his/ think about the various Stalin conspiracy theories? Specifically these two:

>He was an Okhrana agent who infiltrated the Bolsheviks and eventually double-crossed everyone to take power for himself
>He didn't die of natural causes, but was poisoned to death by Tito as a retaliation for various attempts on Tito's life.

I'm sold on the second. The first one is interesting and matches his personality, but there seems to be a lot less physical and documentary evidence supporting it. Of course, Stalin could have just erased it all.

"Stop sending agents to kill me or I will send one man to Moscow and it will not be necessary to send another one"

I believe it
>>
> poisoned to death by Tito
I find the theory about betrayal of other party main figures to be more plausible.
>>
>>1396760
is there anything that supports those claims?
>>
>>1396780
>betrayal of other party main figures to be more plausible
That would probably have led to someone other than Khrushchev getting into power, if they were that desperate to get rid of Stalin they'd have found a better successor.

In the end despite what Westerners are inclined to think, Stalin was very, very popular. He was considered a hero who fought off the invaders, built an industrial superpower and led the Soviet Union into a prosperous 50s, he was either killed by Tito or the fact that he lived a very stressful life and was 74 which at the time was old for someone who hadn't been ruling the largest land country in the world for 30 years

Stalin killed Lenin
>>
>>1396798
Nah, there was no promise of Stalin attaining power if Lenin died. Trotsky seemed more like the ideological heir, Rykov was the better party man and appeared the better diplomat. So at Lenin's death Stalin was probably 4th or 5th in the potential line of succession after Trotsky, Bukharin and probably Rykov

Contrary to what putin teaches in school Stalin wasn't even the head of state and would be unrecognizable to your average serf outside the last five years he was in power
>>
>>1396774
His doctors' official diagnosis of the cause of death (something heart-related) doesn't match the symptoms he was recorded as displaying, specifically massive renal failure. The latter would be consistent with poisoning, and if you think about how the USSR's invincible "Man of Steel" being poisoned would look to citizens and other countries in the socialist sphere (was it an internal plot? Why are avowed committed it's killing each other?), there's a really string interest in giving a false coroner's report. Combined with Tito's letter, that's enough for me.
>>

>The first one is interesting and matches his personality
The personality of being a member of a minority nation repressed by the Russian and being too smart for their basic church and empire nonsense? Being an Okhrana agent makes no sense.

Considering the whole central committee was one huge power struggle between members, it wouldn't be odd or deviant to think that Beria was the one who removed Stalin in an attempt to take over his throne. But alas Khrushchev out-maneuvered Beria.

>would be unrecognizable to your average serf outside the last five years he was in power
`Really? Shouldn't all the Propaganda with his face on have made sure they at least knew who he was?
>>
>>1396760
The first one is bullshit by left-liberals who like the ideals of the early USSR but think Stalin was a meanie who shouldn't have treated those kulaks badly :(

The Tito one is just bullshit by children who want history to follow Marvel-tier plots
>>
>>1396809
Yes, I noticed that when I played HoI3.

Stalin isn't the head of the USSR, who was the actual head of USSR and do you have any links proving he wasn't as all-ruling as people set him to be?
>>
>>1396817
I mean his personality traits of deception, paranoia and hunger for power, not his national identity. Stalin was pretty clearly a Russophile too, not sure being Georgian would have stopped him from working for Russian imperial police. I'm not inclined to believe this theory absent more evidence, but it's at least plausible.

>*communists killing each other
>>
>>1396760
The second one also makes a bit sense, seeing as TIto was pro-NATO.

The CIA/Americans probably lend out one of their agents to him. If the operation blew up, Yugoslavia would've been to blame and not the US; thus for the US it was either execute the Soviet leader or (possibly) lose an ally in the Balkans.

That's lenin, most of the hitler-stalin pact posters were made after the war to demonize stalin, since before the war stalin was less known and the pact's nefarious elements secrets

I'm not sure if hitler even knew who stalin was since he only spoke to molotov and never demonized him like he did Trotsky

>Stalin wasn't the head of state of the USSR and was poorly known both within it and abroad

wtf am I reading?

What are you people smoking?

No really am I being memed here? Can somebody please explain?
>>

head of state != head of government
>>
>>1398256
Wholly irrelevant especially in the context of Stalinist USSR any distinction was a rubber stamp at best.

Did you know the DPRK has five different parties that are currently active and elected? Are we going to make the claim the DPRK isn't a single party state now?
>>
>>1396760
>its a "everyone speculates wildly without any proof " thread

At least stop pretending like you are reasoning and embrace the fact you are making shit up.
>>
>>1398266
Was only referring to the

>Stalin wasn't the head of state of the USSR

Part of the post.

The position of HoS being irrelevant in the government is just a detail, Stalin still didn't hold the position.
>>
>>1396760
If anyone poisoned Stalin it was probably Beria
>>
The whole "nobody found Hitler's body" conspiracy theory comes from Stalin playing a prank.
>NKVD finds a couple bodies and two dogs burnt in a ditch near the fuhrerbunker
>SMERSH finds Hitler's dentist's assistant who identifies Hitler and Eva Braun through dental records
>the bodies get whisked off to Moscow
>Stalin calls up Zhukov and goes "BRING ME HITLER'S BODY NOW!"
>Zhukov spends several weeks sweating as his men tear Berlin apart
>Eventually Stalin calls Zhukov into his office and presents him with Adolf Hitler's skull while going "lol i pranked u good bro"
