apart from made in England
is hollow and is made of clay (I think)
any clue what this could be?

That's an insulator for power lines. Don't worry, I can make this /his/ related.
So way back when Australia was being tamed by the west, they started slapping up power lines going out across the middle of nowhere. For some reason, the lines kept getting disrupted, like, non-stop. Upon investigation they had found that the insulators were being removed from power lines on a regular basis. Abos were straight up climbing the power lines to knock them off, because the ceramic was excellent for projectile points and stone tools.
The solution to this was the power companies eventually started leaving piles of insulators near the bottoms of power poles to keep the abos from fucking them up.
