They're on the British isles but they're not a part of the United Kingdom due to the abolishment of the Irish monarch and instead implementing a republic system of governance.
Northern Ireland however continued to use the monarch system, hence why they're still linked to the English Royal Crown as established by the Crown of Ireland Act 1542.
