Different factions want different things from you.
Maybe they want you to work or make stuff for them or maybe they just want you to spend the worth of your work and stuff on their work or stuff.
They might actually just want you to support them, without needing you to work or make stuff - when you think about it, some welfare recipients are essentially being bribed to support some policy-makers over others.
