Will we see human cloning in our lifetime? At least on an experimental level?

Eat shit.

This could delve into discussion about the philosophical implications of such an innovation.

Why didn't you make a thread about that
At least then it would kindof be /his/

Aside from the standard "would it have a soul" debate, human cloning has some really interesting moral gray areas. Who would raise the child once it was born? How would it be raised? Would it be a ward of the state or would it be adopted by some family? Would you deceive it about the truth of its origins as a clone? Would it live it's whole life as a test subject in some secret lab? Would it resent it's artificial origins and grow to hate the rest of the human race? So many questions we may never get answers to.
>>
technology for it exists already. the process itself is banned worldwide for purely ethical reasons.
>>
A clone is just a time-delayed identical twin. There is nothing spooky about, and only dummies think stuff like >>1338810 are real questions. "Would it live its whole life in a lab????" No, doofus.
>>
>>1337010
Probably, although it would not be the same as the person it was cloned from. Its DNA could have triggers that are switched on due to specific conditions in utero and its fingerprints would still be different from cell division.
TL;DR it would be like an identical twin.

no

maybe
>>

Can you repeat the question?
>>
The correct answer is China
>>
I'm 76% sure there have already been numerous experiments with human cloning. For fuck's sake, chinamen are already editing the human genome for some fetuses.

What is somehow the difference between "cloning" and "test tube babies"? We have been conceiving human life inside laboratories for years.

Maybe the issue in cloning is the fact the being still gets chromosomal data from both parents? We can't create human life without an egg and a sperm, yet. We don't have intricate enough understanding to create a synthetic version of either.

probably not since muh moral and deontological code
we need iron fist dictatorships to do this kind of edgy hardcore shit because they have little to no regard for the wealth of their citizens or captives (e.g.: unit 731)

>pic related: you needed one of them alive to have this kind of cutting edge experiment on humans
>>

We can clone dogs, I'm sure the US, Russian, Chinese and some of the European governments have the capabilities. It wouldn't be the same person though probably..
