So when the Austro-Hungarian Empire was dissolved, how come Hungary

So when the Austro-Hungarian Empire was dissolved, how come Hungary didn't seat a King?

Instead they installed Miklos Horthy, an ex-Habsburg Admiral, and called it a day.

Hungarian here:

Hungary after WW1 was in shock because of the Treaty of Trianon, staying as a Kingdom had the symbolic meaning of never giving up the lost land, and believing in the Kingdom of King Saint Stephen.

After Hungary got back most of the ethnic hungarian lost territories in WW2 there were plans about making even Horthy a king.
