Why were people married at such a young age during the Middle Ages?

Children had a higher sex drive back then, a consequence of the low life expectancy and general shitty quality of life. You had to breed faster because you would die much sooner.
With the gradual removal of scarcity, marriage started happening later in life, as the need for breeding wasn't as dire.
