Melting pot, not a tossed salad. There are americanized versions of all cultures, including Islam. All cultures can get along I'm harmony if they respect the values of american freedom.

Unfortunately that isn't how it works
The US is a nation that constantly imports it lower class. Discrimination of an immigrant group ends when said group fits into the American definition of "white". The problem with this system is that some groups are never going to be "white" so while Irish and Italians manage to get away with it, everyone else is treated as perpetual foreigners. This create social unrest and leads to the creation of ethnic enclaves when all the nonwhite groups rightly believe that they have no stake in assimilation if acceptance is always off the table
American freedom doesn't mean shit when Americans don't adhere to it themselves
it is not a melting pot unless the muslim immigrants convert to christianity
