But often people who have no faith believe in some sort of God ( often not a scriptural one) on the strength of the evidence they see for such a belief. Atheists who had no faith in God also consider the merits and demerits of arguments for God's existence with one another and end up talking about it, and not just in debates against theists.
That's also like saying that dinosaurs didn't exist until we started talking about them, its just plain wrong.

More like you make the claim that reality is contingent, and you say therefore, there must be a being that is also contingent to match it. Literal speculation. So is our current mix of quantum theory and relativity, but they've got more than a few abstract similarities going for them.
