What?

I actually hated when my teachers bragged about this shit in High School to be honest. As if Canada without British support would've had a chance.

It's that line Dumbledore says before handing out points to Gryffindor like welfare. It was spammed on /tv/ for some time and now started spreading to other boards.

>implying the Spring Offensive would have been stopped without American reinforcement
>implying the Hundred Days Offensive would have been possible without American reinforcement
The war contribution in fighting may have been short comparably, but it was decisive. Not like you fucks could have done anything without the financial and material support regardless.
>>
>>1316098
>being this wrong

The Hundred Days Offensive was only possible with the petering out of the said Spring Offensive which was stopped by British and French troops.

American support was decisive, but not in terms of actual boots in the trenches. America's role was similar to that of GB during the Napoleonic Wars, we just financed the war effort and swooped in at the end to take credit for it all, Duke of Wellington style.

Yeah, remember when England took New Orleans too?

Oh wait.
>>
>>1313775

Wait a second.

The white house wasn't white when it was burned.
>>
>>1319033
It wasn't even called the White House, but the Presidential Palace. Canada wasn't even yet Dominion of Canada, but British North America. So no, no one burned the White House, and Canada didn't win anything, but the fun decision to be a British bitch for several more decades.
>>
>>1313775
>burn down the white house
>get hit by a fucking tornado right after
If this isn't proof God hates the British, then nothing is.

At least we went to college and got a real job. We didn't go out drinking and run away from home before you were 16. All dad ever wanted was prosperous colonies and to raze Paris to the ground.

The War of 1812 was a tie. It was a sideshow from the Napoleonic Wars from the British, and a diplomatic show of force from the Americans. The Americans won a purely diplomatic victory, the ending of the impressing of American sailors.

That said, it's barely a footnote to Americans hundreds of years later.

Canada should have declared Independence when, or shortly after, USA did, when GB was still reeling and fucking with Napoleon. Should have been our friends all along.
>>
>>1319166
Why? It's working out pretty well for Canada right now. Plus, it was only a few more decades before Britain and America became besties all over again.
>>
>>1319163
>end of impressment

Yeh, but don't make that seem minor. If you took a job on Most Dangerous Catch or some shit and all of a sudden Japan captured your boat and said you're Japanese now, you'd be pretty upset.
>>
>>1319166
Why'd you have to go and sic all those pissed off, drunken Irishmen at us anyway?
>>
>>1319175
It had been going on for centuries. Like I said, it was an American show of force. The Americans still didn't accomplish their main objective, which was taking Canada. The British likewise didn't succeed in bringing America down a notch. It was essentially a tie.
>>
>>1319177
The British made them mad at everyone. We just gave them 3 hots and a cot so they'd win the Union side of the civil war and build our berms and canals.
>>
>>1319184
I don't know that "taking Canada" was the "main objective" tho. It seems to me, with all the adverse propaganda calling it Madison's War, most of the "main objective" had to do with overseas trade with France which was being blockaded by GB, and also the impressment of our sailors. Yeh, the USA made a run at neighboring British colonies in the north, and weren't successful, but the Congressional declaration of war didn't come from "hey, let's take Canada". That's not right at all.

That wasn't even anywhere near the main objective. It was barely a secondary objective that developed several months into the war.

Don't ruin it for the Canadians, anons.
