Hello, /his/. I was born and raised a Christian, but I've been having doubts if Christianity is what I need in my life at this point in time. I've been doing some introductory readings into Buddhism, just basics, but I was wondering what /his/ could tell me about converting to Buddhism.
you don't convert, you practise. you can still pray to god as a buddhist

First, it's more a philosophy and less a religion if your a Westerner.
It's more or less improvement on ones self. The end game is enlightent, which basically means understanding your place in the universe. When you die depending on whether you were decent or not, you could go to heaven/hell, or reach Nirvana. Or you could just reincarnate.
But like every view some interpret it in their own way. To me it's a more down to earth belief, but not too different from most religious ideas.

If you want to be a Buddhist you'd have to understand the reasons to be a buddhist and get a read oin the core concepts.
Read something like What the Buddha Taught by Rahula Walpola. It should be available online. This streamlines the basic Buddhism.
