This is the Yamato class battleship.
When the war was close to ending, the Yamato's crew realized the Americans would defeat their beloved Empire, so they started sailing the Yamato towards Okinawa.
The idea was that, once in shallow waters, the ship would become an unsinkable fortress, and the crew members would live off on the resources of nearby islets for the rest of their lives.
The Yamato was destroyed on its way.
It was the biggest battleship ever commisioned.
