Seems like the most relevant thread in which to ask this question:
I really enjoy songs like "The Night They Drove Old Dixie Down" or "Allentown" by Billy Joel, which lament the fading of ways/systems of life. I grew up in a rural farming community that had its prosperity and sense of community eroded by a combination of industrialized agriculture, outsourcing, and Vermont's welfare state flooding the town with parasites and those kinds of songs really strike a chord with me.
