At the same time the sword took hegemony as the weapon of choice because it was the only weapon a samurai during peace time was likely to be familiar with

But when it came time to fight again they brought out the guns and spears because they weren't stupid

Mainly because they didn't want any rebels getting their hands on them. Guns were still produced though.

This mothafucka didnt even USE samurai, but instead used massed formations of ashigaru (conscript) spearmen to crush smaller forces of samurai into a bloody mess from sheer weight of the arrayed spears.

Nobunaga would have spread his fell wings over all of Japan if he were not finally outwitted and forced into the grave.

well he did stomp the Oda at Tedorigawa and Nobunaga considered abandoning a lot of the northern provinces to him. It was a pretty minor battle overall though.
