A lot of what you percieve as Slavs being Dixieboos is just a appreciation for the flag and its connontations of rebellion. There is a lot of legitimate appreciation of Southern culture, though. Western Europeans see close cultural bonds with the rest of America, Eastern Europeans see it with the more conservative, agrarian part of the US.

When the subculture originated in the Uk it was heavily based around being working class and working for a living. Clip on braces were only really worn by the working class (Not sure why, have heard because they will just unclip themselves from your trousers if they got caught in any machine while at work in a factory or whatever, not sure though)
After the formation of the subculture (Late 60's) Braces weren't really needed or widely worn by people as much as in earlier years but became a staple part of the look.
Braces any thicker than 1/4 inch will make most skinheads think you're a poser now-a-days

America "won" the world wars. we came out relatively unscathed, but still got to have the "glory" of soldiers serving heroically in battle (a useful thing to have to rally nationalism and patriotism).
We finished each one in a great economic position, plus after the slaughter and destruction we got the opportunity to provide the goods to rebuild europe, obviously a huge economic boon.
Additionally, in both wars we came in near to the end and were "there" when the war was won, making it easy to imagine that we were the key force in causing that victory.
Now if someone were to say "America caused the victories in WWI and II, that person would rightly be called a moron. But if you're considering the outcome of the war in terms of how the nation was before vs after then yes, America really did "win".

I know active skinhead scenes across the US and some of europe, namely france sweden and uk. the easiest way to get involved is find the closest active skinhead or oi band (or label)
and start going to their shows. i bet i can find the closest scene for you if you wanted to check it out. you also might have to sniff out local street punk(not d-beat or crusty gutter punk or some weirdo indie punk) scenes or hardcore scenes because skinheads can turn up there. I do.

I've been a metalhead, in fact most of my clothes still are, and t.b.h. the subculture is not that great. Too centered around aesthetics but without an actual spirit beyond enjoying a genre of music that is actually pretty diverse so it's not even granted you will share tastes with other metalheads.
Maybe it's better in the scandinavian or anglo world, I don't know. Three years after partially leaving that scene and my life is basically the same except without leather clothes or the long hair.

Punk and Oi! developed from the Reggae style generated by Jamaican immigrants working alongside the white working class, that's true.
However going back as far as the subculture has existed there has been anger at Pakis and other Asians for their encroachment on working class communities.
It's the same anger seen in American black communities towards paki and hindu shop owners in the hood because they're outsiders that do nothing but funnel money out.
Right-wing working class skins have existed as long as the idea of a skinhead has existed.
Just because they were the only group to hold on and stay valid throughout the 1980's, and the only group to successfully make it to America before the early 2000's, doesn't mean you can be a jealous cunt and shit-talk their legitimacy.

I've always had a slight infatuation with the beat movement, as well as bikers (specifically, the ones that started the movement after returning from Vietnam), and punk rock. With bikers, I like travelling via the open road, and motorcycles. With punk, I like the music and the idea of "freedom for all". But with beatniks....I don't really have a connection.
