Since the Ancient Greeks who were all over-manly fags.

India, Yoga is older than Greek as a civilization.

I believe Harappan civilizations were the ones that invented yoga practices.

Yoga, as in whole range of body exercises, not just sitting down and saying "aum"

Hmm. Are we arguing this from some factual evidence, or because some person says so? Proposed origin doesn't have much evidence, until we get to the Vedic era. Pictures on Indus river valley seals aren't alot of evidence for a "practice", only symbology.

Isn't aerobic exercise a fairly recent invention?

At the very least, we can say the yogas have ties to the sramanas (ascetics) with enough certainty. Recorded sramanas doing those yoga exercises appear around 600 BCE.

The sramanas have a longer oral history via the hindu scriptures mentions of them from earlier times. The harappan name drop was simply due to the similarities between the sramanas and the harappan symbology.

But yea, earliest recorded (from hindu/buddhist/jain scriptures/temples/artifacts/etc) is still the ascetics/sramanas from India

Since time immemorial. It's bloody instinctual.

In China and Medieval Europe for example, warriors were given dummy weapons weightier than the actual weapons to condition their strength.

Our modern concept of exercise is really new. Like early 20th century new. Especially the nutrition aspect of it.

However there was practices since basically forever that we could retroactively identify as exercise.

Greeks were definitely obsessed with exercise, but there's no indication they invented the concept. It probably predates written history by a lot.

Greeks had gymnastic trainers and nutritionists. They are mentioned in Plato's dialogues.

Ancient Greece begins in the 8th Century BCE, meanwhile in India:
>The first use of the root of word "yoga" is in hymn 5.81.1 of the Rig Veda
>the earliest evidence of Yogis and Yoga tradition is found in the Keśin hymn 10.136 of the Rigveda

>Techniques for controlling breath and vital energies are mentioned in the Brahmanas (texts of the Vedic corpus, c. 1000–800 BCE) and the Atharvaveda

>the practice of pranayama (consciously regulating breath) is mentioned in hymn 1.5.23 of Brihadaranyaka Upanishad (c. ~ 900 BCE), and the practice of pratyahara (concentrating all of one's senses on self) is mentioned in hymn 8.15 of Chandogya Upanishad (c. ~ 800–700 BCE)
