The only way the British can really win is through some sort of negotiation with the Colonial leaders, and imposing some sort of acceptable terms that leave them in charge but give the upset people a proverbial carrot as well.
The 13 colonies had a population of roughly 2.5 million during the revolution. Even if the continental army is completely crushed, the revolutionary leaders hanged, and British soldiers can move about at will, occupying a population that large on a long term would probably take roughly 200-300,000 troops and would bankrupt the British, certainly costing far more than the colonies themselves were worth.
As to what things would look like that depends a lot on what the exact terms of the settlement would be.

because even if they completely supressed the revolt somehow, the original complaints would still be sorta valid.
But it was never a question of whether britain COULD win, it's just whether it was worth it.
