Was ancient warriors a strong masculine types of men like this one? Or is it just in fiction, and they was just like average humans today.
>>
>>1204083
Your concept of masculinity is inherently modern, post-1950s, therefore your concept of masculinity has nothing to do with ancient warriors concepts of masculinity.

They were average humans like today, they were manly as fuck, and you are a little sissy wuss boy.
>>
>>1204083
They probably weren't as ripped. Functional strength doesn't always lead to definition and mass.

They were fucking massive, primary sources attest
>>
>>1204083
Being cut like that is a waste of energy. Human beings, through development, had to be more efficient. Some were very, very strong and fast, to the pinnacle of performance, but no, they didn't look like Arnold Schwarzenegger, someone who wasted alot of time and energy specifically on molded physique.
>>
>>1204083
Think more like Gymnast and mma brawlers than bodybuilders.
>>
>>1204287
That's not even entirely right, because a body will store some amount of fat for periods of physical exertion. Battles lasted hours, and people without a little extra padding would get tired after the first 30 minutes. Even the best distance runners and other endurance athletes aren't so lean as for a 5 to 60 minute performance.
>>
>>1204301
>all ancient soldiers were chubbies
hmm
>>
>>1204309
I wouldn't say chubbies, but not lean.
>>
>>1204309
Strongfat ain't just a meme jack
>>
>>1204309
Actually most gladiators were literally fat.
>>
>>1204352
lol
>>
>>1204619
So Amerifats are the modern day gladiator ?
>>
It depends on several factors, climate is a big one. Compare a warrior from the savanna in Africa to a european warrior from the Alps. The african warrior is gonna have a lower %body fat because it's fucking hot on the savanna. The alpine guy will have a higher &body fat because of the cold climate. As for strength it depends as well, the savanna guy might have a more lean, endurance - type build because he has to run over large distances to hunt and such. While the alpine guy is built more for shorter bursts of strength etc.

And it also depends what kind of warrior culture you have. So, maybe the warrior culture is based around bow & arrow. So the warriors will have a large upper body strength. Or if it's based around wrestling they will have more balanced physiques, with an emphasis on body weight. Or say the warrior culture employs rowing boats, they will have massive juicy arms and chests.

They were probably more lean and hardy than bulky. It's not like you need to be exceedingly strong when sharp and pointy weapons are involved.
>>
>>1204955
What about the Spartans?
>>
>>1204083
No, Ancient warriors tried wearing armor as much as possible and not Frazetta/Vallejo Tier naked and oiled.
>>
>>1204083
The modern man is soft, feminized, mewling and most of all sedentary. So no, they were not like average people, however, they weren't exactly bodybuilders either.
>>1204309
They would definitely not need to be cut.
>>
>>1204083
they were probably more leaner since they weren't experts on physiology they probably didn't "build" their bodies like today's, but with field work and military work with less convenient technology they definitely developed more muscle than the average joe of today.

Is Europe just arm-wrestling contests with eurodance playing in the background and commentators yelling in tongues?
>>
>>1205587
it's a statue of a god to be fair, it doesn't really tell much about the average soldier
>>
>>1204083
Pic related is what the average ancient Greek warrior would've looked like. Average humans today look like shit.

>>1205682
but then again, there must've existed people like this, or the sculptor couldn't have known what it looks like

can't pull anatomy out of your ass
>>
>>1205709
>that small ass dick.
>>
>>1205709
Looks like your average dude who eats ok and goes to the gym. True however, most first-worlders today are skinnyfat office workers.

He looks decently fit.

> Average humans today look like shit.
No shit. The average person isn't a warrior like the guy the statue is depicting.
>>
How could Gilgamesh fit here?
>>
>>1205750
Look at his arms and legs. Fit as fuck.

>>1205711
Classic greek culture prefered small dicks. Women probably had a different opinion but they were irrelevant.
>>
>>1205711
Ancient Greeks saw small dicks as a good thing, this is because a smaller penis for them meant the man had the virtue of moderation.
>>
They had to endure their physiology in order to survive, but they weren't as shredded pic in op
>>1204205
basically this, strength versus looks maybe?
>>
>>1204352

That was literally just so that they would bleed more, because that was entertaining
