Plenty of conservatives were racist and anti-semitic yet disliked the Nazis. However, most of the conservatives even if they disliked Hitler preferred him over the political left, which is why they supported his cause. Without the conservative parties - including the predecessor party to Merkel's CDU - Hitler couldn't have become a dictator because he lacked the absolute majority.

there were all kinds of people. there were also people who werent racist but supported the nazis and hitler. the whole "nazis were racist" thing is greatly blown out of proportion, because germany lost the war and needed to be punished. the general public, while it was quite clearly against the jews and wanted nothing to have with them, was not a band of KKK members going on a lynch every friday or something. the whole extermination and labour camp thing was not something that was revealed to the general population. while there government doing all the nasty stuff, the general population wasnt really required to do any of the dirty work - they pretty much were required to snitch and the details about the consequences of that snitching werent exactly broadcast to the public. in the same way that many people supported the nazi government, while thinking the jews and other undesirables were getting a slap on the wrist and maybe being deported to madagascar or who knows where, surely there were people who thought everyone should be exterminated and thought the nazi party wasnt strict enough.

Note how he goes out of his way in order to deny intent on anything about collective property, the final goal of Socialism.
And conservatives in Germany were not in consensus about liberalization of the economy, unlike conservatives in the UK, France or most conservatives today. Many supported nationalization, centralization, planning, etc. If you interview a conservative in 1937 he could easily be more bothered by the nazi privatizations than anything else economics-related.
Where regular conservatives could be bothered by the Nazis is in a) the fact they were decidedly anti-aristocratic and b) the fact that eugenics triggers christians
