How long have you been studying History?
Do you have state recognised credentials?
If so, what did you study, to what extent did you study and where did you study?
Do you believe state endorsed credentials are relevant to your expertise?
Do you have anything published?
What are your specialist areas?
Why are you on /his/?
How do you rate /his/ as a realm of discourse?

Because I like shitposting and enjoy engaging others in history
8/10, one of the only things better was the banter in my High School History Class

Does a Bachelor's degree count as a credential? Not sure exactly what you're looking for.

Yes. Particularly if your degree was /his/ relevant.

alright then

I'm 26

I've studied for about a decade maybe?

I have a Bachelor's in History with focuses in US and World. Working on getting a Master's.

I feel like my Bachelor's degree mainly taught me more about historiography. I feel like I learned a lot of what I know from outside research.

I haven't published anything and I don't imagine I will.

I've been on 4chan for a good number of years now and always wanted a /his/ board. Glad that there finally is one. I actually think this board is pretty great and has been since its inception. There's a diverse range of opinions, not too much shitposting and a lot of smart people here. And seeing voltaire's smug face never gets old.

>How long have you been studying History?
11 years
>Do you have state recognised credentials?
I have a nationally recognized credential in the US
>If so, what did you study, to what extent did you study and where did you study?
I'm into the historical, economical, and sociological understanding/development of major religions; comparative religion is my emphasis. I myself am not religious.
>Do you believe state endorsed credentials are relevant to your expertise?
Absolutely, you can't have some fucking idiot teaching ahistorical non-sense.
>Do you have anything published?
I have 7 academic articles published. My latests was a book review and criticism on Daniel Pals work from Miami University.
>What are your specialist areas?
Although I'm educated in all the major religions with their historical developments and main textual sources, I mainly specialize in American Religions. This includes American Judaism, Native American Animism, New Religious Movement, American Islam, and American Christianity. My Masters Thesis was on 1800s comparative new religious movements and how it related to the Market Revolution and Urban Industrialization.
>Why are you on /his/?
For the laughs, this board is terrible at historiography and knows little about historical methodology. I come for laughs. Also, it is sometimes a welcomed interruption from my readings.
>How do you rate /his/ as a realm of discourse?
I just answered that in the question above. /his/ is poor. Very poor. I would rely on /his/ for very little. It is filled with High Schoolers, Trolls, Proselytizers, and arrogant undergrads.

>How do you rate /his/ as a realm of discourse?

What is the lowest realm? /his/ is there.

The fact that this thread will get about 10 or 15 replies is probably enough proof that this board lacks grad students.

It is a bit like the wild west. But I feel that the anonymity makes people feel more able to give their opinions. And if somebody is talking bollocks then they are usually called on it.

The problem with the discourse here is the meme posters, and all of the religious shit-flinging that is going on around here. A lot of people are incapable of talking about religion objectively and academically.

As for OP, I have a degree in History, no publications. And the area of history that I enjoy studying the most (Bronze Age) wasn't part of the degree at all.

I am on /his because sometimes there are threads with interesting debate, or images of cool artefacts and paintings, and I still come across something which will pique my curiosity and make me want to follow it up.

What is your opinion on Keith Richards and David yamanes book, religion in sociological perspective?
