so the hellenistic period only lasted from about the 5th to the 3rd century BC.

What gives? How did such a short-lived ancient civilization back then become sooooo influential? It's not like everyone today is influenced by Egypt.

Well the letters you wrote that in descend from heiroglyphs.

Egypt is influential, the height of the civilization was just so long ago (pre bronze age collapse) that it has been overlaid by more recent civilizations building on what had been done before.

Macedonia, halted the persian advance, had a unique government that nurtured thinkers in a way the world had never really seen.

Rome jerked off to Greece and everyone jerks off to Rome

What this guy said >>1169948
The Roman Empire were huge Hellenboos and spread this shit in Europe.
>>
>>1169941
Spread:
1. Greek Culture Thrives
2. Alexander spreads Greek Culture through Middle East and Egypt
3. Romans build off of Greek Culture
4. Romans Spread their Psuedo-Greek Culture all Across Mediterranean and Europe

Strength and Popularity:
Greek culture enhanced itself, its philosophy was to keep improving on philosophy. Leading to tons of writings and ideas respected in the west to this day.

Also the fact that Europe became the supreme power house on Earth led to our past cultures being so prominent. Had Chinese culture excelled and colonized Europe it would be a different story.

Was Carthage also so into Hellas? What if they have won?
>>
No one corrected OP yet? The Hellenistic period is from around the time Alexander died in 323BC to the battle of Actium in 31BC. The fuck is OP smoking?
>>

That's classical Greece isn't it? IIRC te Hellenistic period only started in the 3rd century BC and lasted until god knows when.

Traditionally it is held to last until Octavian's conquest of Egypt and the death of Cleopatra, the last Ptolemaic ruler and the last of Alexander's Successors.
