Butthurt Hunboo please
Creating a thread to make yourself feel better because you can't actually argue the topic is pathetic
>>
It was only nothing after the Romans killed everybody that lived there.

Well the western bit is truly nothing. China merely set up garrisons there for their Indo-Iranian City State friends in the Tarim Basin.

Unrelated, but why did China took so long to occupy Taiwan. It's really close to it, so I feel like they would want to grab it
>>

Literally false.
>>
>>1147032
And why should they occupy it? What's in Taiwan?
>>

Eh, I dunno. It was close, it has land. Was there anyting worthwhile in that large isle in the south china sea?

"Holy Roman Empire". This is a very difficult thing to say while keeping a straight face. I wonder who can, because indeed it is hard.

"Holy", you say, while grinning like Voltaire did. "Holy", it is it's name. But then, thinking of "Holy", you think about all the emperors who were excommunicated. You think about all those who tried to fuck with the pope. You think about the wars of religion and how many of them ended up as protestant heretics.

But then, the funniest is coming. "Roman". Yes, now. You cannot contain your laughter. “Roman”, it is called, despite the fact that this “Roman” body is standing on Germania, a land so harsh and poor that the Legions of Rome refused to set foot on it. A Germanic and barbaric people, yes, but still calling themselves “Roman”.

And now, here is the end of the fun: “Empire”. Now you fell on the ground, laughing so hard that you cannot breathe. An “Empire”, a body made of dozens of petty duchies and counties, all fighting for themselves, giving strange names to their position, full of Grand-Dukes or Archdukes. An “Empire” who will stay between Poland and France, while the great powers of Europe will create colonies all around the world.

>Roman
>Empire

Y tho? That said, the earliest Chink settlement there was in the 1300's. By pirates and smugglers. Lived in the coasts since the interior had headhunting savages.

Major Chinese settlement happened in 1640's when the Ming Dynasty fell and Ming Admiral Zheng Ch'enggong, alias Koxinga, thought it was a good base for retaking all of China. He then landed 25,000 men in Taiwan along with their families and took the place from the Dutch.

>>1147046
The Aborigines in Taiwan shared a similar culture with Northern Filipino tribes, and were actually trading iron with the Chinese settlers in the coast for Chinese products like ceramic, silk, or steel. This was very primitive mining though.

Yeah, usually "it was there" is enough for men to go there.
Why go to Ireland, Iceland, all the himalayan countries, Australia, etc ?

What was the difference between Senatorial and Imperial provinces?

And did the Romans conquer anything else afterwards?

>look at all that nothing we conquered!

This time no meme, they actually managed to """"conquer""""" the shittiest places on the planet.
>>
>>1147153

Imperial provinces were governed by the legates appointed by the Emperor himself while the Senatorials ones were left in charge to the Senate like in the Republican days.
Imperial ones were the ones most relevant for strategic reasons, most notably being the ones with Legions.
>>
>>1147168
In the case of Galatia it's because it actually had a kingdom ruled by "gauls" (celts).

In the case of Iberia it's because greeks simply didn't give a fuck, caucasian iberia is just basically georgia and they called themselves something similar to Kartli. It has nothing to do with the iberian peninsula.

In other cases, etymology helps you to see that two names being "the same" actually mean different things. Or mean the same but both make sense for different reasons.
>>
>>1147103
Literally everybody, except the original inhabitants, ignored all the places you listed for most of their respective histories. Even Ireland although to a lesser degree than the others.

It's not like Taiwan never was conquered, they just left it alone for long.

The earliest recorded attempt to colonize Taiwan was in the 230s when Wu Taizu [Sun Quan] sent an army and fleet to conquer the island. The Wu annals state "the gains did not meet the cost."

Elsewhere it is reported the army returned, having lost 90% of the force to disease, desertion, and hostile aboriginals.

Why are Romaboos so retarded?
Is there something about Roman history that attracts retards like moths to the flame? Or does taking an interest in Rome somehow iron out the brain?

Romans are entry level history because they're so important and ubiquitous to Western civilisation so naturally you get newcomers who love Rome.

That's not to say people who are well versed on History don't also love Rome - Romaboos are a very large and diverse group of people - but the incidence of retards is higher.
