Does Satanism hold any merit or is it just a religion for edgelords?
It's mostly just for the edge lords.

Obviously as a rational, atheistic religion with a focus on empowering individuals to live fulfilling lives, it has far more merit than any theistic religion.
Godfags use 'edgelord' as an insult, but what they are really saying when they use the term is that 'these people make fun of me so I don't like them."
The truth is that godfags are the biggest edgelords that have ever existed. Godfags literally claim that you are inherently evil and will suffer eternal torment unless you live by their life-denying rules. Godfags came into power through the sword and are still up to that same old shit (see: IS destroying ancient artefacts) but they will not even tolerate verbal criticism against them: just calling them on their bullshit is called 'hate' or 'phobia' by them, and demand 'tolerance' from you... tolerance of *them*, while they live and breathe hatred and tolerance.
Their entire religions are based on fear and oppression and subjugation, and yet they claim they are working on principles of 'love' and 'peace'. That is why we mock and satirise them.

It's more than just marketing and/or contrarianism.
There are satirical elements of course, but it is a serious religion, and all religions need symbol and ceremony. Satan is ours.

Satan is more than just a figure of abramaic faiths, but a common element in many religions across the world. The Satanic Bible gives many of his names. You're defining Satan too narrowly. Notice that the symbol we use is the symbol of Baphomet, not just a simple anti-christian/etc symbol like a 'cross of st. peter'.
