When you ask someone to treat others as they themselves would like to be treated, is that an appeal to logic or emotion?

It's an appeal to emotion. It's a call for sympathy without any reasoning behind it.
its not even an argument, its more like a philosophy

There's no logic reason to treat A like B.
You can say A has some things in common with B but it's still fundamentally different in some ways. The emotional reason for it would that you would be get more stuff if you can trick other people into treating you a certain way based on some dogma.
It's just egalitarianism nonsense that has been accepted by many people because of Enlightenment and Christian philosophies.
It's an appeal to spirit.
