I heard that Muslims stole this symbol from Byzantine Empire. Is it true? Why would they do that? What is original meaning of crescent and moon?

As a Muslim the "we come in peace" is a mantra used by Western Muslims to look palatable. Not a symbol of Islam.

Not Islam's symbol, just a depiction of Islamic characteristics of honor, justice, or whatever. People think Islam's symbol is the crescent, Allah written in Arabic, or even the testament of faith. The actual religion has no representation. You can argue the closest thing is probably Allah in Arabic.

Really it means nothing, we Muslims just use it because it looks cool, i don't know where we come up with it, but if it's from the Byzantine Empire then that's cool we have some Roman heritage with us.
