What does /his/ know about Battle of Lepanto?
amazingly little. I just learned about it recently. It was apparently a very pivotal battle where the turks got completely devastated. It should be up there with Cannae and Waterloo and Stalingrad but it's obscure for some reason. I especially enjoyed reading about those gargantic battleships that the Italians used, i had never heard of those ships before.
Spain, Papal States and Venice allied against Turks 'cause they conquered Cyprus to Venice and they threatened Malta.
Alliance was short. After Lepanto, Venice got out and started to negociate with Turks. Yes, Alliance was done for Venice and they do the retard.

Is like Spanish Armada Invencible, it was an humillation, yet a small lose. After that, Spanish naval army obliverated British one with no problems.
Still, main consequence of Lepanto is that was last battle ever in Mediterranean Sea until WWII. Ottomans stopped trying to attack.

The effects of Lepanto can still be seen, as Spain controls some cities in Northern Africa, something that would not have ever happened if the complete ottoman dominance of the mediterrenean sea had not been broken.
