What happened to the Free Territory of Trieste? Is it Italy or not? Does anyone have good insights?

It was part of the bigger disputed territory. After the bigger part was resolved, Trieste and the area surrounding it was turned into a neutral zone ala Danzig until the northern part (Zone A) of the free territory fell under Italian and the southern part under Yugoslav rule.

this is the treaty between Italy and Yugoslavia. it was 1975. The people of Trieste consider it as non valid though

actually not even the UN considers it valid
the link is from the Security Council of the UN, see page 10 where it talks about the situation of Trieste from a sovereignty stand point.

That's when the Trieste territory was established, yes.
All you need to know is that Slavs need to die and keep their hands off of Trieste.
