Why don't Russians give the Romanovs credit for tripling the size of their empire?
>>
Maybe because the slavs are geographically detached from the siberian people and therefore never thought of them much besides the "yea and weve got snowchinks too somewhere in the east" manner.

because it all belongs to mother russia. from the atlantic to the pacific, from sea to shining sea, the light of manifest destiny and christianity will never perish.

>americans and russians both believe in manifest destiny, god and guns as the reason they were able to conquer a continent.
>the russians lost their southewest, i.e. central asia, because their version of the USA collapsed.
>americans would be just as butthurt if new mexico, arizona, texas and utah were independent countries with russian bases to "combat terrorism"

Because anyone could have fucking done it. Is Russian expansion anywhere near as impressive as Rome's? Persia's? Or even events like the Reconquista.

Russian expansion was basically colonization. Those purple areas were practically empty. Similar to north america, with the smallish indian tribes.

Conquest happened later, in post 1800 in kazakhstan and other central asia.

do you have any idea how hard it is to get to the far east from moscow pre-trains?

Siberia literally has one month of summer. An unbelievable amount of people were killed just from nature's wrath during Russia's trek east. It makes America's move west look like a picnic.
