A nice middle ground would be a transliteration and a synopsis in place of shoddy translation work. That's half the problem with translating poetry - you sometimes have to be a poet in the language you're translating to for the best results.

1. Moors and berbers are the same thing. Moor/Mauri was the name of a berber confederation, which led to all berbers being named like that.
2. Berbers aren't a "north african tribe", it's an ethnic group that has tribes and sub-ethnicities. The way you say it sound very weird.
3. It's quit obvious that imazighen werent considered negro, because they had, have white skin, and he spent his life studying them, living with them and working for them. Ibn khaldoun job was to work for various berber kings. He wrote their history.
