What do you think of separate legal personality in regards to corporations being treated as seperate legal entities from it's shareholders/ directors etc. and the resulting idea of limited liability for shareholders?
Is this a necessity of business or is it a bullshit legal concept for shareholders to profit without risk?
You can ask the same about state and politicians, honestly. If a politician causes a massive deficit it's not like they're gonna garnish his wages.
>>873301
It would be much harder to place fault for something like that.
Corporations shouldn't have rights to begin with.
In the end, is philosophy just clever word-games?
>>873237
Absolutely.
Philosophy can certainly get trapped in language
>>873237
It's not clever.
Where there any ancient civilizations that did not practice slavery or if did, had a more humane approach to slavery than their contemporaries?
>>873153
Slavery is pretty much jailtime for Southeast Asian nigs. Here in Pre-colonial Philippines societies, you enter slavery when you get convicted by council of:
>failure to pay a debt.
>Stole something from the family that caused them financial ruin.
>Fucked a daughter of the family out of marriage and she ended up pregnant.
And other crimes I couldnt remember. But the fact of the matter is: no slavery is permanent. You're...

Rome.

I would definitely have to agree with Roman slavery, but only for some parts, and it really depends what time period you're talking about. Slaves did have a lot of options coming out of slavery though, as they had the ability to vote and partially participate in politics (only men from what I've read.
Quite a few slaves, however, dealt with incredibly harsh punishments for disobeying their masters. For example, 6000 rebel slaves were crucified...

So how was the Song able to survive over 40 years of the Mongols banging at their doors? I mean wasn't the Song militarily retarded, did they just constantly bribe them for that long or what?
>>873131
Precisely that: the Song wasn't militarily retarded (it was, administrationwise and as a whole. Song has the worst military track record of all dynasties).
Also Song China was in Southern China. Hills, Jungles, Mountains and whatnot. The advantages of the Mongs were negated and they had to fight like the Chinese do.

>the Song wasn't militarily retarded (it was, administrationwise and as a whole. Song has the worst military track record of all dynasties).
So which was it?

have you ever had any significant philosophical insights as a result of reading /his/?
if yes, care to share?
>>873122
Pol/ was right.
I knew Marxism was silly before, but this board has really confirmed it to me. They are deluded fools with no real life experience. It made the communist atrocities of the 20th C so more explicable to me

We are spinning 1000mph on a little planet traveling an orbital distance of 584 million miles every single year. Our Sun is but 1 star of 100 billion stars in our galaxy, and our galaxy is 1 of 100 billion galaxies in the known universe.
My significant philosophical insight is that our philosophical insights do not matter in the slightest. All the philosophical insights amount to nothing is the scope of enormous swirl of chaotic and order passing.
Surely, we can all circle jerk each other and pretend like...

What if new u.s. government undermines necessity of NATO and because of it stability and legitimacy of transatlantic alliance become a question?
Can it weaken the U.S. influence on mainland Europe and cause disruption on long European peace or will it cause a power vacuum which could further destabilize eastern europe and balkans?
>>873117
NATO is too entrenched in western Europe. Trying to dismantle it or move it would be too much trouble. I remember talk that they were thinking of moving SHAPE to Poland so that the military headquarters could be closer to Russia, the eastern bloc countries, and the Middle East. I don't think that's ever going to happen even though SHAPE's location was only going to be temporary.
NATO will always exist so long as Russia exists, OP. It is and always has been an alliance against Russia.
What does this thread have to do with /his/?
How were the Seljuks able to just steam roll through the Middle East like they did?
Nomads desu
>>872923
Abbassids were declining, there were numerous breakway principalaities, emirates, and nation-states of the Iranians that already refused to acknowledged the suzervanity of the Caliphate. Also in the background of the early Crusades, wars with the Byzantine Empire, and declining military and political standing, the Turks were able to rampage through the lands and become a major power.
Still at least a couple of those at least Iranian states like the Qarinvands, Bavands, and Paduspanids managed to retain some form...

This
The Buyids and the Fatimids weakened the Abbasids and balkanized the Middle East
The Abbasids actually welcomed the Seljuks due to the Fact that they were Sunni unlike the Shia Buyids
I just realized that I still have the online notes from when I took History, so I figured it'd be a good fun to post it here and see what biases there are and all that good stuff.
What does /his/ think?
Also I would just link to them but you need to have been registered in the program to view it so I'll just copy paste it and post the walls of text here.
Take screenshots, save as .jpegs and post them as pictures here. Takes little space, and is easy to view.

How did they do it? Where did the weapons come from? Where did the manpower come from? Where did the military experience come from?

Well that's awkward.

What ever happened to keeping the 4th commandment? Why don't Christians keep the Sabbath like Jews and where did Sunday come into play? Iirc even Jesus kept the Sabbath barring some miracles
NEWSFLASH: Christcucks cherrypick what to believe and follow.
More breaking news at 11.
>>872438
The Emperor Constantine the Great decreed that Sunday would be the new Sabbath for all religions in line with his worship of the Sun. Christians have never undone that decree.
>only began being referred to as the "Byzantine" Empire over a humdred years after it fell
Remind me again why we accept this ancient revisionism and don't simply return to referring to it as the Eastern Roman Empire
>Eastern

In my high-school history classes, we referred to it both ways.

Why didn't Luther just convert to Orthodoxy?
Because Orthodox "Christians" have less to do with the Bible than Catholics.
They're also even more morally bankrupt.
>>871757
The Church came before the Bible senpai.
Idolatry + evem more saint worship than Catholicks.
Say you woke up one day and everyone tells you you're insane.
The more you try to explain the more you feel you get misunderstood. They have their minds fixed: you're just insane. It says so in your journal: every new person reads it and see you got a diagnosis once and they have to trust it.
What do you do? The more you explain, the worse you seem. You stay quiet? The more they see you as uncooperative. This is your identity now, they tell you that's the TRUTH. But YOU know your own mind...
If you play along you're forced medication which dulls...

Teach by example.

Which means?
>>871717
the point is that nobody has ever been happy in taking seriously what they feel and what they think. Once you drop all these, you enter a meditative state and there you pursue your quest to throw away what you are conscious of.
the conclusion is that what you thin and feel and what others think and feel does not matter.
