What is fear?
>>884340
It's an emotion, very tied to the more basic fight-or-flight response. It's a response to perceived danger. It usually instills a sense of urgency. Apparent somatic components are many.

What are 3 pieces of advice you'd give old Theodoric, King of the Eat Goths and Regent of the West Goths?
>>883565
Not to eat other Goths
>tfw no Visigothic Spain, Lombard Italy, Vandal Africa and Frankish Gaul catholic, romance kingdoms that last to this day
>>884349
All shitty states. Jesus Christ Germans couldn't consolidate and stabilize for shit. Fucking Goths with elected monarchy, fucking Franks with gavelkind succession.
As a proud English Protestant Anglican I don't normally like Dawkins that much but I saw this beauty of a clip today and I have to admit he destroys the Satanic Papists here in the name of the Queen.

There are so many battles that have faded into oblivion /his/, so let's rummage in our family histories and dig out what we can.
Post here battles and wars where your ancestors fought in. Everything goes, apart from the last 25 years - /his/ rules. I'll start:
>1806 Battle of Misar - Some of my ancestors were recruited from Montenegro by Karadjordje (Serbian Uprising leader) himself. They were experienced from the constant wars against the Turks, unlike most of the Serb fighters. In the Battle, the older men walked in the back...

Some of my ancestors probably were involved in the two invasions of Korea by Hideyoshi.
Considering their region, they probably did well. The Lord of their area was the best performer in that invasion and the troops of that region were called devils by the Chinese and Koreans.
I had an ancestor who fought in the American revolution when he was in his 70s.
>grandfather fought in mozambique for Portugal against the revolution. Lots of black People didn't want the revolution and fought alongside the Portugese troops. There were many little bands of looters and rebels who killed anyone opposing them. My grandfather was in the military camp defending the camp and his family.
>WWI some relative fought in flanders for Portugal. Biggest battle was bataille de la lys
>probably some more wars but the stories weren't passed. Although one of...

This video is a little more personal than my others, but I feel like I need to get this off my chest as it's something I've been walking around with for a long time.
Coming out as an ex Muslim is something that many people compare to coming out as gay in the 70's. Apostasy is a crime in every theocracy remaining, and Muslim apostates face threats, torture, and discrimination in those countries for their entire lives.
Today, I want to talk to y'all about my experience with Islam, and how I was able...

What is the history behind war trophies?
Why is it illegal for me to build a coffee table made of skulls?
>>882658
>Why is it illegal for me to build a coffee table made of skulls?
But it's not.
>>882664
Where do I acquire skulls, err I mean, what is the history behind acquiring skulls?
1) Stops "unknown" firearms from entering the country, many of which will violate some law or another somewhere just be existing.
2) Stops warcrimes. Killing Gooks and taking their finger bones as trophies IS a war crime.
That said, you still can if you word it right (A google search showed one trick is to put your trophy on a plaque and say it was awarded to you by Chief Ala bim bim Sa Sim Sim of the DurkaDurka tribe), or just hide it correctly.
Of course if you managed to get the skulls into the country legally, I can't see how anyone woudl object.
Should we continue AI research? Should we regulate AI research? Is Tay a warning of what could happen? What would cause AI to choose one idea over another?
>le silly chatbot
You should be more worried about corporations acquiring AI research so they can keep it for themselves.
Better hope there's some basic income before the time comes

We should regulate high trade robots first, Senpai

I dunno. Popularity?
Which degree gives you the best job opportunities
Which degree gives you more self worth
Which degree is just better
I'm torn between English for easiness and job opportunities (third world country here) and psychology for the interesting research opportunities in third third world environment.

who's Charles Manson to you? [this topic is relevant to American history insofar as the Manson trial and consequent media out-lash against hippies effectively ended the movement]
schizophrenic crazy genius.
evil scientist type guy, he seems retarded but he knows how to crawl inside people's heads.
I never understood the hype around Charles Manson that made him out to be some sort of Moriarty-tier genius criminal mastermind. He was a very charismatic guy who was skilled at manipulating people (though the people he manipulated were pretty much retards so I don't see how it's that much of an accomplishment), but his 'master plan' was completely stupid. Was he a standard deviation or two above average? Sure, but he was also an idiot.
I've seen a bizarre number of edgy contrarians recently trying to defend Manson, still dont know what all that's about.
What's your favorite coat of arms/emblem/seal /his/?
I personally love Charles V's HRE coat. It's a total clusterfuck but it's goddamned glorious
