Why do so many people claim that Americans don't have culture? What constitutes a culture? Is it possible to say that Americans historically possessed a culture (like in the 1830s when de Tocqueville visited the country, or the 1950s) that they have since lost? Is baseball a cultural activity? Is the American dream culture or ideology? Is there a difference?
I hope this makes sense but I wanted to discuss this further since it seems pretty clear to me that America has a culture, or at least it once did.

authors set out trying to reach a goal instead of creating the scenario and letting it play out naturally. Like in that shitty "Man in the High Castle" alternate history where the guy had the axis win and continue holding on to it's conquered territories and create Atlantropa without ever analyzing the ramifications.
