What was the eastern front like in WW1? Was it static trench warfare like the west? Were there large battles comparable to verdun or the somme?

It was more mobile.

1914 saw Russia invade East Prussia and take some territory. The Battle of Tannenberg checked this advance. Once Germany made Russia the focus of their attention in 1915, Russia was unable to cope.

Russian trenches were is no way comparable to the fortifications constructed in the West. Germany possessed superior quality and quantity of artillery. This meant in 1915, Germany relentlessly battered Russia and kept forcing them to withdraw.

Russia would have collapsed in 1916. However, Falkenhayn (the german Commander) preferred an attack...

The Italian/Soča front was also pretty static, with the advances happening in 1915 and then in 1917, but not really far.

Which parts of the bible are historically inaccurate? Not counting supernatural stuff. For example I heard that the Exodus is completely made up.

animism.jpg
22 KB,
Animism encompasses the beliefs that there is no separation between the spiritual and physical (or material) world, and that souls or spirits exist, not only in humans, but also in some other animals, plants, rocks, geographic features such as mountains or rivers, or other entities of the natural environment, including thunder, wind, and shadows.

Before all the fake religions existed and holy scriptures were created Animism is what all humans believed in on the planet Earth. Most tribal people who don't have any contact with the rest of the world and haven't...

If there's no separation between these two things and places, then how is it they are regarded as identical?

You're right but for the wrong reason: the correct conclusion isn't animism but materialism.

Are there any good examples where cavalry charges have been effective and decisive in battle?
It seems to me that cavalry charges are mostly ineffective throughout history. At hastings the normans would never charge directly into the saxon lines because they were massed so well on the hilltop and would just ride up, try to jab at them with weapons and throw javelins.
At Crecy french cavalry was utterly ineffective since the english archers would take down the horses which probably created a wall of dead horses and knights which the rest of the horsemen couldn't ride...

Oh and to add about Hastings, the norman cavalry was very effective once the saxons scattered and started running downhill chasing a fake retreat. The norman knights would then start riding through and between them cutting them down

The Aforementioned treaty heavily restricted BB CA and CL as well as the Nelson class (called the "cherry tree class" because it was cut down by Washington)

The treaty is largely responsible for the creation of the U.S. carrier fleet

What would have happened if the treaty was never signed, namely WWII, especially Modway?

Midway could easily have been lost due to the Japanese out gunning the U.S. With the largest battleship ever constructed and an overall better surface fleet
>>

With the treaty not being signed you would see a more pacific focused war from the onset by america. American's were restricted from fortifying pacific bases and was very much restrained by the ration put in place by the treaty.

That being said it is impossible to know if the American government would have invested more in the pacific, or if the Japanese economy could have afforded any more production of warships. Any naval ships they would have made would have without a doubt crippled them the further into...

Japan would be even more screwed. Both America and Britain could outproduce Japan at a much greater rate than 5:5:3. If they both pursued more active building programs, with more and better ships, it wouldn't have been pretty for the IJN.

I was going to make a post about multiculturalism but I kept questioning myself what I really meant by what I asked. So how do people researching in multiculturalism conduct qualitative research. What do you even measure. When someone claim that one place is more multicultural than the other, what did he mean by this?

I post it here since the humanities are the disciplines that study human cultures. And pls don't bother with if multiculturalism is good or bad, that isn't relevant in the slightest to what I'm asking.

I guess you measure it relative to the social/cultural norms of the whatever time you are researching, which is pretty hard to do considering we generally know next to jack shit about social/cultural norms the further you look back.

"Multiculturalism" is often just a buzzword used by pundits and PR reps to sell immigration to the voting public for the purpose of fueling our GDP myopic drive towards infinite growth.

>What do you even measure
The answer is so obvious I think I may have misunderstood the question but it goes something along the lines of
>number of religions
>number of different ethnicities/races
>number of different cultures
>the amount of or lack of ethnic, racial, cultural tensions (amount having inverse relationship with multiculturality)
>inclusion...

because every once in a while, someone or something comes along and changes the game, and everyone must fallow suit or die. guns becoming powerful, some genius,

Very interesting question. Humans are innovative by nature, and I guess when you get a particularly innovative guy, or someone who has one good idea, and combine that with experience and leadership potential, new strategies are developed. Also, strategies are tested and honed in a back-and-forth contest between adversaries, and the strongest strategies are continued and further innovated on.

This.

It's a general constant state of seeking weaknesses to exploit. If one tool comes around that changes the limit of what can be done, the rest eventually adapt.
