Yes. The natural life cycle for historical figures is thus:

In recent history? Probably Menelik II of Ethiopia.
Fought off the Italians, began modernisation efforts, centralised a large part of the bureaucracy and tax code, tried to maintain something of a stable inheritance.
Not extremely impressive, but it's Africa after all.
What really happened there, /his/?

You could start by exchanging those swords for a shield and spear. Hardly any real warriors in history used dual swords except I think some Indonesians or Cambodians or something
Are there any accounts by Europeans on the effectiveness of the armors used by various indigenous peoples compared to European armor?
>>1063253
The wooden branch armour sometimes used by north americans was pretty good against clubs. Ditto for the padded gear the mesoamericans used

But how did it hold up to, say, steel swords? Depending on thickness, I would think it might be able to withstand swords (though I am skeptical of polearms).
>>1063277
There is the Ichcahuipilli which is cotton laced and braided, layers of cotton that in a way is like the gambeson, meant to soften blows by the layers.
How effective it is? Against flint arrows it is great, it works like intended, against steel everything else (swords/lances/bullets/maces) I highly doubt they would be of any use, there is however people here that will say that they were good enough to deflect bullets or that swords cannot do a thing to these but most of the time they are the same ones that claim...

How is Turkish history taught in Turkish schools?
Do they go all the way back to ancient Persian/Mespotamian empires? Do they cover the Roman empire? Or does there history not focus on that stuff and start with the Ottomans?

Pretty sure they start from the Goturks or Huns. Also not meaning to be /pol/ tier here but what's up with Turks trying to claim ethnic Persians like Rumi as their own?

Did medieval soldiers suffer from PTSD? If they did are there any historical accounts of it? I've only ever heard it talked about in the context of modern warfare.
>>1064007
It was probably very rare if it happened ever. Medieval warfare and before was much slower than the rapid warfare of WW1 and on. There also weren't any weapons which could cause a spontaneous change in the senses like artillery could, which is the cause of shellshock.
Shakespeare's Hotspur clearly has it, so the idea was not unknown to a 16th century audience.
You'd just get branded as a coward and get ridiculed or just die when they send you to front lines
