Why do economic embargo and trade disruptions never work during war?
>Napoleon tries to embargo Great Britain, doesn't work
>Allies form navel blockade around British Channel in WW1, doesn't work
>Hitler tries to embargo Russia and Great Britain, doesn't work
>America tries to embargo Vietnam, doesn't work
>Entire world tries to embargo present day Russia for acting a fool, doesn't work
>>1402083
You know nothing about ww1.
And blockades don't work if a lot of countries ignore them and the aggressor country can't enforce them
Those were all effective minus Vietnam
>>1402083
>Why do economic embargo and trade disruptions never work during war?
>in WW1, doesn't work
?????
the blockade was one of the most potent factors in winning the war for the allies

It didn't work bros, why not.
Probably because they used to be a Jehovah's Witness.
We were taught the bullshit of every other religion twice a week (three before about 2008) for years. Some, decades. Then we learned all the bullshit about JWs and just gave up on spirituality.
That or they think they're too smart to believe in ~le imaginary cloud man.
>>1402084
>the way I see through bullshit is completely valid
>but if anyone else also believes it's bullshit they are completely unjustified
>>1402084
>they think they're too smart to believe in ~le imaginary cloud man.
They /are/ too smart to believe in the imaginary cloud man.
Was Mussolini all that bad? The impression I get from him is that he was a decent leader, but gambled in allying with Germany expecting an easy war and ended up losing.
Aside from that, I can't really recall anything that bad about the guy. You never hear about Italian fascist execution squads or any persecution of minorities. He reigned for a fairly long time and it seems like Italy did quite well under his reign until they entered WWII.
>>1401421
yeah, but in terms of dictators, he wasnt that bad at all. No autistic purges or genocides, and no retarded invasions, until he just became hitlers bitch
>>1401948
I Concur. After Hitler's "Persuasion" he basically fucked Italy over. Italy would've been better off today had they not intervened in world war 2.
>>1401421
I wouldn't exactly say the Italians treated North Africans and Ethiopians like best buds.
Human logical behaviour does not exist.
There are a number of philosophies that, trough pure mathematical logic, prove that logic does not exist. For example, the argument of the primal premise, or Descartes' notion that the only thing that can indeed exist is my own consciousness. All behaviour and thought process ultimately results merely from the chain reactions of eletric discharges performing synapsis in the neurons of our nervous systems, and it cannot be assumed that these meaningless systems in any way reflect or accurately interpret the greater realm of existences...

Why cant they reflect reality if they were shaped by it, just like a canyon?

What would the canyon answer?

Canyons can't think.
Probably Assyria.

Gentlemen...
What should Napoleon have done to defeat Britain or at least to maintain France dominance on the mainland?
>Hard mode: You start at Waterloo
>>1400444
>Hard mode: You start at Waterloo
It was already over
The answer is he shouldnt have invaded Russia
>>1400491
>don't invade Russia
>Britain gets rich
>Russia invades Warsaw
>Austria turns
>Prussia probably turns
Not an option

Is there any serious philosophical argument for "sanctity of life", or it is just muh feels?

Not watching your gay video.

Not even Philosophical. The Golden Rule is literally survival-tier thinking.
>Let us not be dicks to each other to heighten our chances for survival.

>Is there any serious philosophical argument
No.
Would it be acceptable/historically accueate for me to wear knights hospitaller gear to a renaissance faire?
>>1400141
yes, they held to their christian vows unlike some
In 13th century knightly gear? No.
Just do it.
Probably like 90% of the attendants will be in historically anachronistic or otherwise inaccurate dress.
Is Ares the most beta god of war in all mythology?
>only Spartans even liked him
>got wounded by Diomedes with the help of Athena
>Athena was more revered as war goddess and she also was responsible for civilization, justice and wisdom instead of just being a sperg
>every time Ares got wounded he run away like a bitch
he's a god equivalent of vikings - only good against guys who don't fight back
fuck Ares
>>1399918
Well, he is the greek god of war, of course he is as useless as the norse god of fine arts or the egyptian god of snow
Don't conflate Homer's jocular portrayal with the common conception.
Athena was basically that kid in elementary school who gave himself every superpower when he was playing pretend superheroes.
>Person A owns a machine for making clothes
>Person B owns some cotton
>Person C uses Person B's cotton and Person A's machine to make a shirt
Who should primarily have the rights to the use or sale of the shirt?
I don't know.
Whoever is the strongest. Might is right.
C created the shirt, so C. Presumably A and B were compensated for the use of their property.
Everyone here seems to glorify the empire and the western roman era, but wouldn't you say that it was at its healthiest ( economic stability, military capability and not being stretched too thin ) during the late republic era? Was it dying ever since Caesars death? It seems to me it was downhill after the republic, and during the empires time the senate was almost irrelevant, more of a congress to the president relationship. Why doesn't everyone on /his/ who glorifies Rome glorify the republic specifically? Religious pressure was low, rebellion wasn't always around...

Why is it called "Cultural Marxism" when Karl Marx never wrote anything on the subject?
Shouldn't it be called "Cultural Liberalism"?
Because red-baiting was a big thing in the 50s, and autists are usually two or three generations behind mentally.
Because it uses Marxist theory. A lot of Marxists today see sexual minorities and women as the true revolutionary class, with the proletariat often being a reactionary class, much like how Marx saw the lumpen. Marx didn't understand cultural capital, that's the key here
>>1400177
Because it's a hoax created by right wing pundits.
Do "Cultural" foods bear any resemblance to the foods people would eat 100, 200 years ago? I never see info of what people would eat in the past, and I highly doubt people would eat the same porridge slop every day
>>1397846
A lot of the food you eat during the holidays are the same as what you ate 200 years go.
As a poor student I confirm that even now I eat same porridge slop every day. It is then quite normal to assume that comme people were even poorer than I am rn.
>>1397846
>Any resemblance
Yes, they resemble. But that doesn't mean they didn't modify the food in 200 years.

Is there something wrong with humans?
We as a species aren't worthy.
Basically Marx says that the dictatorship of the proletariat will slowly transform into a stateless society without government, while in reality the ruling communist class will NEVER let go of power unless they're ousted by a revolution or if the country economically collapses, in which case they always revert back to capitalism. See: every socialist country ever.

What if we tried skipping the DotP stage.
