'Greatswords' in general where a niche as fuck weapon, the drain on your stamina having a greatsword and a shield at once is not worth the questionable gain of doing so. Making a sword a bit larger and heavier doesn't magically let it go through armour, it would still remain pretty shit at dealing with armoured...

I've been studying Rome for a few weeks now after doing close reading of ancient Greeks.
What exactly did Rome contribute to the world that was distinctly Roman? Much of Roman culture seems to be Greek handmedowns and generally less significant. Is there anything that Rome did better that copied from the Greeks? Or were the Romans less concerned with the work of great thinkers?
