What evidence is there to suggest that Alexander and Hephaestion were lovers? My teacher goes around saying it like it was fact.
Nigga crusified Hephaestion's physicians because he was so upset at his death. No friend, no matter how close you are as friends, can do that. You only feel that for someone you love as lovers love.

Takeda and Uesugi were in all matters equal in power and strength, they faced eachother many times with inconclusive results.
Yet, even though they were fierce rivals, Uesugi Kenshin and Takeda Shingen deeply respected eachother as honorable enemies, to the point that Kenshin deeply lamented Shingen's death.
Ok /his/, let's try to do a socio-historical analysis of memes.
First what is a meme ?
What's the earliest meme recorded in History ?
What impacts do they have on human societies ?
an idea
gods and shit
im too scared to take a shot at this one
A meme is something that richard dawkins made up. The original meme was dancing baby
The earliest I can attest which was legitimately a meme was "Hippocleides doesn't care" in Ancient Greece.
Any of you like music made about history? Post them here.

Sure. As long as it is history related I'm interested.
So, as I understand it, Japan's plan, such as it was, against the U.S. in WW2 was basically to beat them up for about 6 months that they predicted they'd have the advantage, expand as much as they could, and try to bargain to a peace with honor based on the assumption that America would be unwilling to take the kind of losses that would be needed to dig them out of their chain of island fortresses and drive to Japan.
If their whole strategy hinges around negotiating to victory, why didn't they ever at least threaten to hold lend-lease hostage? It was...

If u-boats couldn't shut our shipping down theres no way the Japanese could. Their subs were crap, so they had no ability to make good on that threat.
>>1131862
You wouldn't need u-boats, or Japanese shit subs. You're sending convoys out into the Sea of Japan, within land based air range of a zillion Japanese bases.
You could have a dozen cruisers hanging off around Vladivostok, which would be way more effective than submersibles, and not affect the carrier based main fleet actions much. And if the Americans start escorting these convoys, you have almost unlimited land-based airpower that can join in.
The material resources were sure as shit there...

Zoroastrianism, Manichaeism, and their contribution to Islamic theology are the only 'religions' any note from Persians.

>Do you think that the Austrian empire was right on blaming the actions of one bosnian dude to Serbia and start WW1?
Serbia tolerated their actions just like Pakistan tolerates Taliban activity. No European great power would have tolerated terrorist activities in their periphery and having been humiliated like this they had to do something. Whether they could have handled things more diplomatically is a different issue, but their claims were essentially in the right.

What do you think the reason is for the decline of religion in the West is, and what would you think can save it? Do you think we can continue on in the same religious institutions as modeled by our past existence, or do you think these institutions will be replaced by different ones (Neopaganist movements, Leveyan Satanism, Syncreticism, etc.) as we progress into this millennium?
Interested to hear your opinions, /his/, what can we do to revive the concept of the soul here in the West?
>>1130814
>what can we do to revive the concept of the soul here in the West?
Perhaps you should first ask why we would want to.
Religion and ideology are pretty much exactly the same. The west has always been, and continues to be religious, we just replaced one belief system with another. Right now democracy is our religion, and movements like feminism and ant-fascism are also like little religions.

It just doesn't FLOW. At all. I can read Foucalt, and it flows. I can read Aurelius, and it flows.
I might have to re-read a phrase, sentence, or paragraph up to SIX times in this fucking book to make sense of it.

This certainly looks like a bad translation. the middle part of the text isn't too difficult to get to but parts like this are weird, and I could write another 3 paragraphs on how the author could have gotten his point across easier just by changing...

How would history be different if america legalized cocaine in 1933 instead of alcohol?
i don't think it would be much different
>>1130329
They had legal coke back then. It was in Coke. And dental products. And nasal products.
I think it would be a lot more different. And the growth would be a lot less localized than it currently is. It would be grown all over the tropics.
Rumor has it that coca leaf chemical consumption in the U.S. Stopped once panama was taken control by the us in fear that south americans would make money from the sale of it. Especially by making coca cola its prime trade partner. Instead coca cola got the patent to take the nasty evil stuff from the leaf.
I've come to the conclusion, after years of study on the brain and behavior (at uni and on my own) that free will does not exist.
Is there any reason it should or we think it might beyond "it'd sure be nice" or "muh ego"? Do we have ANY evidence that it might exist?

I read a synopsis of the fantasy "A Brother's Price" where humanity birth rates of male to female favors females 9:10 times making males a rarity. In the book, men take on the passive feminine role women have in real society as bartering chips in marriages who have to maintain their purity before marriage. Meanwhile the excess of women make up the warrior classes, the active roles in society and rule society in a matriarchal system.
Is this accurate to how real society would form if men made up a notably smaller population IYO?
>>1130187
Unlikely. Men are still the stronger more aggressive sex biologically speaking, and biologically speaking again, a single man can impregnate many women. Now, sheer wait of numbers could mean men have more limited rights then they do now, but there is no need to prize male virginity as such.
It's more likely you'd see harems and polygamy rather then men being prized for their virginity or whatever.
>not using the physically superior men as juggernauts to steamroll enemy females
even in fiction chicks are retarded
I doubt it. If you look at history, there were lots of cases were a relatively small minority group conquered a much larger majority population. While that isn't gendered, it still goes against the idea that all you need is a majority to dominate. Many Central Asian groups that came to dominate China fall into this category, such as Xianbei, Xiongnu, Mongols and Jurchen/Manchu.
The reality is that while some women can be quite strong, the strongest men tend to be stronger than the strongest women. In a society where women far outnumbered men, they would probably...

It's curious to consider how exactly Jefferson would've suggested the US fight back against other industrialised nations if it didn't industrialise itself.
If he'd gotten his nation of yeoman farmers, how would Americans hold off any foreign invasion just a few decades later?
