What's your take on we shows like crash course history, wisecrack or nerd writer.
Personally, I think they do an alright job when it comes to providing straightforward answers like dates of events of causes of them.
But God, when it comes to philosophy they can get wrong.

While I agree with the thrust of your general concern, I think they often get the most important points right.
For example:

>>1339466
Of course, they get the foundation correct. But I think the style of these YouTube educational videos actually detracts from learning.
They're often short, up to 10-15 minutes at the most. Which might account for their fast talking or maybe that's how they naturally talk. Personally I enjoy wisecrack and nerd writer.
Wisecrack's "The philosophy of ___" is amusing enough.
Crash course is too simplistic and i don't like John Green and his style of humour.
Nerdwriter is meh
Looking to expand my knowledge on Native American history. Does anybody have some books or other resources they might recommend?
Like what? Great Plains natives? Pacific Northwest natives? The Pueblo of the South west? Natives of the apalacians? Eskimos of Alaska? Native Hawaiians?
>>1339256
Not OP, but do you know of anything that covers all of the above? Even if only briefly
>>1339269
Also, can anybody reccomend a good starting source/book for American history in general? Like everything for colonization to the 21st century? I really liked my history books when i was in elementary/middle school, but i cant remember the names of them and i get the feeling there are much better sources out there nowadays. I want to learn all i can about the history of my country.
The only evidence I could find on this were these quotes fom two different letters he sent to her,
“I have been dreaming about your dear soft, warm hands, I am awaiting with impatience the time when I can sit near you and kiss them but pray keep your promise you gave me always to give me alone the soft inside of your hand to kiss, but of course you keep this as a secret for yourself.”
and
“I have again dreamt about you, this time I was alone with you in your library when you stretched forth your arms and pulled me down. Then you took off your gloves and laid your...

Hello, I am not Kaiser Wilhelm, just a very close friend. He's a very cool guy and I would submit all of my properties to him, but he certainly didn't love his mother in a sexual manner, he grew up in a motherless environment and actually wanted people to find out about those letters, as a way to call for help.
More historical paintings like this, /his/
crazy idea here but what if- maybe i'm out of my mind here but- WHAT IF you'd actually look at, you know, art actually MADE in the history instead? you know, quality art? fine art? art that have stunned people for centuries rather than what some history circlejerking autist posted on DeviantArt -08?

Why do important people dress like shit nowadays? If you saw someone wearing something like this, you would immediately know that he was a big guy. Now everyone wears suits.
My favourite civilization are the Amhara-Tigray and I like most Ethiopian peoples in general, like the Gurage, the Kembatta, many Oromo subgroups like the Guji, Arsi or Tulama, many Omotic peoples like thje Dizi, Wolaytta, Maale, Gamo or Kaffa, etc. ^_^
Are there any more Ethioboos like me around here? Would love to share ideas with you. :-)

Is it true they conquered Yemen?

I am making a thing where I put together pictures of ethnic groups of each country. I just finished with Ethiopia and it was interesting learning about all these different people.

Yes, but all aspects of incarceration are necessarily cruel. The people are locked away from the people they love, even if the people they love are sick or dying.
>cruel and unusual punishment
>unconstitutional
It isn't unusual because it's routine.

Admit it guys. You all just want to be Aryan NEET's living in a white utopia on racial welfare and not some desert shithole that cuts off your hand for scratching your ballsack. /pol/ is right.
What does /his/ think of this? I think it's refreshing that the history channel is making an actual history series again. Reminds me of their dark ages series from a few years ago.

How was Cleopatra not some drooling inbred retard?
>>1341384
Because the recessive genes her parents carried obviously didn't compound enough to be disabling. Consanguinity doesn't immediately equal Deliverance, and if it did it wouldn't be the norm for monarchies throughout history.

The Ptolemy's practiced incest? I thought that they would've gotten rid of that since they were of Greek heritage. I mean come on, it was the first century B.C.
ancient pharaohs probably had tons of concubines, I doubt there was much inbreeding going on. They probably married close relatives to keep up appearances

Hi Guys, the purpose of this thread is to discuss all things Iranic. There's far too much information to try and discuss in one thread so I'll lay some groundwork first.
Please feel free to ask any questions about anything relevant and I'll try my best to answer it.
I'll add as much as possible so long as this thread is kicking around.
I'll start with ancient history and eventually work my way to modern day (focusing on different tribes, religions, and socio-political issues - mainly attributable to the Islamic Republic)

Scythia was not a homogenously Iranic. It was - most recently - composed of Iranics, Slavics, Turkics, and North Indian peoples who all shared a similar Iranic identify (language, culture, religion). When the Achaemenid empire...

Persians (Achaemenid, Sassanid, Samanid, Safavid?, Afsharid?, Qajar, Pahlavi)
Parthians (Parthian Empire)
The Medes were the first Iranic tribe to organize and combine the other related tribes into an empire. Modern day Kurds and Azeri's have both claimed Median ancestry and it is very probably that this is in fact true. Kurds and Azeri's are both Iranic...
