Alright, so baidu is a whole lot (Like ten fucking times) faster if you can manage an account.
About two weeks ago I managed to make a QQ (Some other chinese site related to Tencent) account and that allowed me to log into Baidu THROUGH my QQ account. To make a long story short I blew up my computer and lost the password to that account. The chinese are also shit about getting passwords back apparently, because any request for a new one you get a "team to analyze the situation" or something. They probably want your fucking chinese social to verify, I dunno. Now the way I made the QQ account is covered by phone number requests as well.
Anyway, I'm on a mission to manage an account and make a guide for us all. Because while Jdownloader will get you baidu DLs, it is slow as fuck. If anyone has ANY insight on how to either A) Get a hold of a real chinese phone # to verify or B) work around the phone # shit, please let it be known.
If anyone DOES have a Baidu account, giving me a short bullet list of how you managed it would be excellent. I'll convert it into a nice image that can be posted in the OP somewhere.

Here is an incomplete. drama cd of the hentai "Alignment You You!" That futa hentai from 2008, so this audio is really old
It is incomplete because the torrent didn't download the whole thing due to lack of seeders. Only got to 98%. I was able to salvage parts of the cd
There are 2 cds. The first one is incomplete, I was able to salvage about 27 min of it before it cuts out. The cd was suppose to be about an hour long.

Programmer here, fuck encodings.
Basically, encodings are ways to go from regular language to ones and zeros. So for example the letter "a" can be 01100001 in encoding A and 11100011 in encoding B. So if one person saves "a" using encoding A then another person reads it using encoding B (now it turns into "d") then saves it using encoding B (now it is 00011100), you're fucked, no one knows what the original was.

I think the problem with zip files is that they don't support unicode at all. Which would be why rar and 7z files usually extract fine, since they do.
That said, why the fuck do people keep using zip files anyway? They're ancient and don't compress as well as virtually every other compression scheme, I think they compress even worse than tarballs, which are way older. I don't understand why people dont just use 7z or rar, since they're both better in pretty much every way.

They could just say that a utility like WinRAR or 7zip is required. Or even put everything in self-extracting archives, since those don't require having an archive tool yourself.
The other side of the problem is also that basically no archival utilities provide the ability to extract with a different codepage than your native one. It looks like bandizip does, but 7zip and winrar are way more well known and give the user no way to extract a zip archive as codepage 932 (SJIS) on their own, without changing your locale. This is ridiculous. If you look for how to do it, you'll find people complaining about the lack of this functionality years ago, the first result I get on google is from 2010, and I think I've seen some from before 2007.

Nevermind my complaints about extraction software, apparently on 7zip -mcp=932 actually works on the command line version. I'm not sure how I missed that last time I looked. That said it's still not supported in the GUI, which is still a problem. Also I don't know if winrar and other extracting utilities have the same feature.

No, zip files "support" unicode, but they don't support file encodings. If you zipped and unzipped on the same computer you wouldn't have problems. rar and 7z store file encodings so they usually come out fine.

I'm now having trouble picturing how this problem can even happen without someone deliberately encoding the filenames in SJIS and not UTF-8, since I'm pretty sure most operating systems store filenames in unicode by default.

No, they won't. It's very rare for anything like to to have more than one production run. The quantity being low is supposed to make otaku and people like that rush to get it as a collectors item.
